Received as a trade item in exchange for another beer at The Blue Door. Poured into a tulip glass. Bottle reads specifically: 500mL, Batch #120, Bottled 01/19/2022. Priced at $20.
L - A slightly hazy rusty reddish-orange, with a fantastic three-finger off-white foamy head. Head retains well, and laces nicely.
S - Soured. Astringent. Hinting at a vague fruitiness. Slightly sweet.
T - For the majority of the glass, this was a standard Flanders Red. Tart, oak-filled, and dry. Towards the end of the glass, I began picking up a slight strawberry essence at the back of my throat. Not in the sense of biting into a juicy strawberry, but more like fermenting the skins & seeds of strawberries alongside grain; Dry fruited finish.
F - Medium-full in body, with light carbonation. Refreshing, and easy-to-drink. Sharp. Dry.
O - Not too bad. I wouldn't say it's at all worth the price, but it was worth a try. A standard Flanders Red, if anything else - which is definitely not a bad thing! I do understand it to be difficult for natural strawberry flavors to come through at the end of the brewing process, and this is unfortunately no exception. Unless you're actively looking for the strawberry notes, you won't be rewarded for it. Glad I got to try this one, though!
