Noted as a friendly beer from the label. The color is a Coca Cola reddish brown, but somewhat cloudy. The head is off white and very thin leaving no lace. The aroma is nutty, but, not really there. It is very faint. I also detect some fruitiness in the smell. The taste is also mostly fruity with a bit of nuttiness. The flavor is of sweet malt with very little hoppiness. There is a small hop bitterness in the backend. I'd drink one again as it is easy to drink, but, it is nothing to write home about.

This is a brown ale, so hopheads please strap yourselves in and prepared to be bored. Like the majority of brown ales, it leans towards a malty flavor. However, this has a nice presence of chocolate in it. It's definitely better then Newcastle, although it's only available in Wisconsin, so good luck refining your tastes if you live any place where "betcha" isn't a word. It's plain, but it's a finer version of plain. And it's a big proponent of drinking "indigenously," i.e. buy from the micros near where you live, which I support. Why send my money to California when there are breweries near me that need my business? Anyway, move to Wisconsin and buy this.

Nice creamy head above a deep mahogany brown ale. This one has some wet lacing that runs down the glass quickly. The head reduced to a collar after a minute or two.
Deep malty roast scent with a hint of chocolate and nuts. Very indicitive of an English brown. Salty nut-shell notes along with some good smokey characteristics.
Very nice smokey flavor with some salty meats and nuts in there too. Tastes woody and outdoorsy, a bit salty, and slighty bitter like darkk roasted coffee.
This is a damn fine brew. IMO this is brewed very much "to style." Smokey, deep, woody, nutty, and mild, this is a very nice choice for a brisk autumn evening.

Pours a brown and red hued jumble with a very small ecru head that disappeared in seconds.
Aroma has light caramel and a whiff of herbal hop note as it warms just a tad.
Flavor has a little bit of meaty caramel notes along with a hint of chocolate biscuit. Sweetness increases but is cut of somewhat by a lackadaisical herbal hop note. Pleasant enough but simply boring.
Mouthfeel is sort of dull and a little bit lifeless. May be better on draught but this is a very mediocre effort by the Carey's.
Drinkability is decent but there really isn't anything that I noted to make coming back to.

Innoffensive brown ale from a good Wisconsin brewer.
Dark brown with a sticky, thick tan head. Aroma of malt, grain and some chocolate notes.
Taste is pretty mild. Some malt with brown sugar and a bit of sourness.
Kind of a thin beer despite the sticky head. Drinks pretty easily but not a noteworthy effort.

appearance: The pour into the pint glass produces a .3" off white head that thins out to a small layer of bubbles. The beer is a medium brown in color.
smell: Aromas of moderately sweet toasted grain, a mild hoppiness, some woody/earthy smells
mouthfeel: The carbonation is medium, and the body on the thicker end of the light range.
taste: Not a whole lot going on. A light, watery toasted grain sweetness, a light hop flavor and moderate bitterness, and just a touch of chocolate.
drinkability: Pretty good drinkability. Average and balanced.
Another sample from the fridge of dirtylou while in Madison.

Beer pours a deep dark brown, about a half of an inch head, with solid lacing. Smell, hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste has a decent coffee presence with a little chocolate as well as water. Decent carbonation wise, but a little too watery. Good drinkability, probably wouldn't have more than a couple however.

Appearance: Brown, almost headless.
Smell: rubbery water
Taste: I think I found like half of a chipped peanut that fell out of a batch of NGs squirrel someplace in here. Otherwise, there is definitely some water in the front and the finish is nice and watery.
Mouthfeel: Carbonated Water
Drinkability: Goes down easier than Miller lite. Very poundable but with out appeal to warrant mass consumption.

"Expect this bier to pour an unfiltered, silken black smoothness..." that looks like sewage, with the same approximate level of carbonation. Smells better than sewage though, a sweet, malty cocktail of caramel and chocolate. Taste is thin and toasty, highlighted by hints of chocolate. Medium mouthfeel.
"This ale is the ultimate drinkable brew." I don't know about ULTIMATE, but it's a pretty sessionable light brown ale.

12oz single from the large woodmans (west side) selection of local singles
appearance: pours mahogany/burgundy color with a tan head and some minimal lacing
smell: nothing overpowering, some toast malt, a little caramel
taste: malt profile reminds me a lot of staghorn, but not in an appropriate way for this beer. candylike sweetness, mild caramel, apple juice
mouthfeel: pretty thin, yet smooth...moderate carbonation
drinkability: easy drinking but just not that great
probably the worst new glarus beer I have had, but with such a broad lineup what can you realistically expect?

Pours a hazed light brown with a very thin lace that does not stick to the glass. It smelled like bready malts, spices, with a slight hin to hops. It tastes smooth with a nice malt sweetness and good hop balance. This beer is another one from New Glarus that falls under my session beer list. Defiantly worth a try, not their best but still an enjoyable brew.

Nice mahogany colour, under an off-tan foamy head. Lots of activity in the head- larger bubbles underneath quickly dispate, leaving little lace behind.
The smell is open and airy, with notes of brown sugar, molasses, dark malt, and even a meatloaf I once had. There's just a hint of hops underneath.
The flavor contains elements of weak coffee, a bit of orange, some molasses, and a subtle spiciness underneath. Just a hint of hops at the end.
Liquid is medium to thick with a loose carbonation that sort of dances at the roof of your mouth.
This is a nice fall session beer. Enough to keep you interested, but not so overbearing that you want to move on to something else.
Be well

Hazy medium brown with some amber overtones. Very fine beige head settles to a thin incomplete cap.
Nose is bready malt with that distinct Briess malt tang (smells like a Schlafly!). Some light lemon/orange citric hop notes combine with a bit of leafiness to add lift to the otherwise monolithic nose, cutting through the malt parade nicely.
Medium in the mouth with lovely malt/hop balance. Not horribly complex, but there is enough going on there to make a session of it. Decent length, and maintains the balance through the death.
Mouthfeel is fine, with a low level of carbonation giving a satiny quality to the richness of the malt. Very drinkable, and one I look forward to consuming every time I visit Wisconsin.
4th bottle of a six pack picked up at the brewery late last month.

The Native Ale pours from the bottle into my SN tulip a deep dark brown bordering on black with a bone white inch of bubbly head on top. Aromas of burnt grains, dark cherries with hints of caramel and toasty bready tones. Subtle and refined.
First sip brings a mix of dark, burnt roasted maltiness accentuated by beady tones and interwoven hints of dark fruits and cherries. Slightly confounding with a mellow sour, almost lactic aspect. Finishes with a hint of hops and a lingering burnt grain. An interesting brew that just fails to really grab me.
Mouthfeel is fairly light with hint of creaminess and fast moving cabonation. Expands in the mouth with each sip. A unique brown ale...but it just doesn't excite me. I'd reach for a different NG beer over this one.
