473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Nov 21 2022 and served barely chilled.
Pours foggy and effervescent, its golden blonde-hued body crowned with nearly two inches of fluffy, soapy, sparkling white head that steadily dissipates. A little over five minutes later, the glass is absolutely caked with gobs of lace, with a fat, sudsy collar and lumpy cap remaining atop the surface. The aroma is lemony, floral and vaguely tropical, with hints of grapefruit, orange peel and melon.
A pretty decent IPA - starts off citrusy, with grapefruit and orange peel backed by a grainy pale malt sweetness. Hints of tropical fruit, e.g. melon and passion fruit, leading into a lightly floral, fruity finish followed by a relatively dry aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with aggressive carbonation that overdoes it at first, but softens considerably with time - going from sharp/biting to soft, smooth and almost creamy towards the tail end of the glass. Very crushable, between its low abv and low bitterness.
Final Grade: 3.82, a B+. Sublime IPA is an understated fruity IPA that I could session all night long. Definitely not a hop bomb, and 'juicy' is an overstatement if you ask me, but it's just so easy to toss back. My only complaint is that it's a little over-carbonated, but that's a self-correcting problem if you have patience. Good stuff, worth a try if you can find it, and something I'll be buying again in the near future - hope to see more Cold Break stuff here in deep SW Ontario.
