Just bought a 4-pack on a beer run to Woodman's Kenosha. Full of subtle flavors for the table. How did such a youngster get such a good saison yeast?
If Young Blood can keep up with the quality of Updates, they will achieve incredible breadth for a three year old. This is a very refreshing saison, using hops modestly and adding the tea to yield such flavor. All was gentle at the table with my salad. All round good.
9/7/22 Drank the second can with dinner of KC BBQ (sweet and thick) slathered all over my meatless chicken. Paired fine and cleaned the palate for salad. A very versatile saison. Glad I bought four. With only 98 ratings on UnTappd and none these past 4 weeks, I hope Young Blood releases Updates again. Not many updates needed to get to high quality. Updates is almost there now.
9/27/22 Drank the third can next to a hoppy and expensive Biere de Garde from a French farmhouse. I was eating my humble vegetable soup and Updates made me imagine myself a miner after a hard day's work. The Biere was hoppy in the saison tradition. But the tea in Updates shows that creativity in spicing can replace hops.... or at least moderate them, which is what I've always thought (or hoped for.) Kinda reaffirming my principle that too many hops are not suitable at the table but other spicing can work with the food.
