Bought a 4-pack at Woodman's Kenosha on a beer run to Wisconsin.

This is a young brewer who is not afraid to venture into difficult Belgian territory. Having had four slightly above average Belgians from Young Blood, I very much want to like Young Blood. In three short years, they have shown skill in the IPA and fruited sour ranges and so they are browsing the Belgian branch. I-94's weak yeast shows that they still have much to learn to excel in the Belgian tradition; but Young Blood is on a skill trajectory to learn what they need to know.

Primarily I-94 Looks like too many Belgian-inspireds: flat, too few protein swirls that last past the pour. Smells are a fruit medley, but not distinct ingredients to me. Tastes are about the same; suitable for the 3-season table, but not what I want to come back to when I already have a stable of table go-tos. Needs more bubbles to cleanse the palate.

All those criticisms aside, it may be useful for me to think of Young Blood as the bridge between the 4th generation (those micros that got going in the 21st Century's teens) and the 5th generation (which are faster learners.) Young Blood is just that: young, smart and confident to venture forth. I will look forward to having more brews from them.... if they work on their yeasts.
