2022 vintage; consumed on 2/28/2024

Pours a jet-taupe brownish body topped with just over a finger of russet-hued foam, fading expeditiously to a near-blank void of a surface, thin, frothy collar, and minimal-no lacing holding with any longevity to the walls of the glass.

Aroma brings dates soaked in a bourbon wash, with subtle milk chocolate accents meeting a raisin compote as toasted caramel and bourbon barrel tinges linger.

Taste opens to fig jam with a melted butterscotch underscore and a creamy caramel mid-palate; toasty oak residuals build to bourbon-soaked marshmallow and milk cocoa, leaving ample barrel spice and cherry esters to linger past the swallow.

Mouthfeel shows a medium-full body and low carbonation; creamy textures yield a silky, warming through the mid-palate as a quasi-prickle dissipates to a semi-sticky glide and deftly drying finish.

An educated blend highlighting masterful interplay and subtleties of both style components; a Private Press pinnacle enjoyable at all facets.

A: A luxury to glossy black transfer, which credits the residual ounces, from a carafe that rests on night shadow hues. On top, a naturally nucleated crown that comes in around the ¼ inch mark with a khaki pigmentation, which unhorses to a Tuscan brown lip. The preservation is minor at the launch, while keeping to the minute at the edge. In consequence, a latticework that offers a modest cling at go, which surrenders to a late – unassertive – remittance. Subsequently, a warming piecemeal to carve teary droplets, from a shouting distance, as viscosity legislates

S: An insightful starting point that casually captures esters, as they shadow beneath roasted grains. Correspondingly, rich diastatic enzymes to frontline, aside an engrossed vat intensity. The profile succumbs Kona coffee through Hawaiian Host, at the same inoculation as Glico Almond’s, while bourbon incentivizes. Congruently, a note on Settembrini, which colleagues an adhesiveness to prunes, as a syrup gets concocted around Piarom Dates. There is coniferous – sap – hop effect that points towards pine with supplements to resin, by cedar, which accompany the lactone boosts. Namely, an oak stave perpetuation to Taiga biomes, where the modulations focus on evergreens. The barrel structure continually characterizes across the clocked decant(s), which hone furfural qualities through a granularity. At the same time, a peat decree devises on the phenolic aldehydes, for vanillin, and chars designedly. The movement discourses °F thru timely walks, where Latakia pipe tobacco rivals Corojo wrapped cigars, as tar encases the dried fruit aftershocks

T: The rationalizations on the barrel notations are worked across the toasted outputs, form the alpha- and beta-amylase conversions. A commencement that draws on toffee aside Dobos torte, while coating prunes to figs with modeling chocolate. The bourbon chord is cognizant, when throwing jabs over flame raisins, as a panettone pudding penetrates under Maple Needhams. Soon after, a furfural interplay on Montes Tomy to neighbor rich grounds, of a tamped coffee puck, while a guaiacol presence grows. There is a wooded hop pillar that comes with a herbaceous nuance, and a soft kick, as the complexity behind esters sprawls. This denotation brings an awareness to ethyl caproates, besides the obliged means on acetates. Thereby, offering roses that become deadheaded, while denoting apples to cellar damage, as caraway spices linger. The progression stresses open air on the carafe, for an aeriated degree on Tawny port, which addresses a light solvency. In step, dark agave meets singed cattle hide, while oak tannins (discreetly) beat red fruits

M: An efficient feel that’s fairly represented with a wooded hop bite, which curtails the treacly states. The surface is smooth upon the humble ebullitions, as an ethanol intensity provokes a fiery delicacy. Coupled with, an attenuated rider that becomes cleanly reworked, when leveling upon the smoked-dry desertions

O: A stout to munichwine blend that capably covers the terrain with a steadying bitterness. The casks are a complimentary measure to the esterification nettings, beyond the recordings derived through saccharifications. Correspondingly, a grain bill that comes with an involved temperament, while a warming ardency boarders

This one pours a dark-ish black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, oak, smoke, and rye.

This leans more stout overall than munichwine, but everything meshes really well together. There lots of clean, herbal, and smooth roast character, with some vanilla and lots of spicy oak. There’s also caramel, and a sharp rye like breadiness. There’s a bit of bourbon, but that part is not overwhelming.

This is medium bodied, with a nice creaminess, and very little booziness.

This isn’t quite as bold and expressive as some of the best Private Press blends, but it’s still an excellent barrel aged beer through and through.

This pours the color of motor oil. Thick viscosity, thin cocoa colored foam. The nose is absolutely wonderful—it’s everything you want and then some. There’s some surprises on the sip—a sharp bitterness that stands out for its hoppiness, and a smooth finish. Fantastic. Take your time with this.

Muddled mahogany with a short tan head settling to a soft, flat collar.

After Continuance b2, this is unapologetically more potently American of piney, orangey and resinous qualities, but still substantially mature and barrel forward as notes of Rolos, salted caramel and black pepper develop over time.
