this is neat, not sure i have seen a radler done with a saison as a base before, usually its a plain lager, so that already adds some intrigue to this, but then they also make their own grapefruit soda for it, which is super cool too, and this ends up being a full of character summer drinker, not quite as light as its abv would suggest, flavorful stuff. slightly denser and cloudier from the tap than expected, murky even, but high headed like all their stuff, bone white and lasting. the nose on this is a bit sweet to me, zesty from the grapefruit with light natural citrus bitterness to it, more grain than necessary but then also the spicy nuance of the saison yeast, this definitely hits a bit more complex than most of these, i love having a saison as the core of this, but on the whole it presents a little less refined than their best beers. the flavor is good, not overly fruited and not as sweet as it smells, some cereal character beefing it up and then some pithy bitterness late helping it finish. summery but kind of hearty too, i think this could be lighter than it is, but i like the citrus and this yeast together a lot. fun take on the style, if not among their most impressive offerings...
