This is just what I like in a light lager, whatever this style actually is, it tastes like the Light Lager style. Clean and refreshing, but it has some flavor and a small dose of hops. Pours a clear pale golden color with plenty of foam in the Timmermans goblet. Herbal aroma that is intriguing but not too strong. The taste starts with a little malt and that tang of something exotic. Not corn, surely! And maybe not rice. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Poem on the label says January 29, 2025 for Year of the Snake.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. No date on the can. The can doesn’t say whether or not this was brewed with rice, although Lowercase has their own “Vietnamese-style lager” that is brewed with rice, so maybe this one is too?
Appearance: pale straw hue with a light dash of haze and a big head of frothy white foam atop.
Smell: kind of a grainy malt aroma, with a pretty good dose of earthy and grassy noble hops. I’m guessing rice must be in this beer, because theres an unmistakable “adjunct lager” character to the aroma. But, the hops balance that, so it ends up being not too bad at all.
Taste: similarly to the aroma, there’s this “adjunct lager with lots of good hops” vibe to the flavor. Malt is a bit astringent and grainy, and on the dry side. But overall not bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I like the idea of this beer, even if it is a bit too astringent and adjunct-y for my taste. That said, it goes down real easy at 4%.
