Closest in relation to a Munich style Dunkel lager, Moonset is a lager bier built with various crystal and high dried malts to create a smooth malty backbone with a hint of roast, while still maintaining a crisp finish. These malts, combined with the lager yeast, lay down aromas of honey, burnt sugar, and fig. A beer best served with a full pour in our tankard glass, and paired perfectly with colder evenings, friends, and great conversation.

I’ve been digging the There Does Not Exist beers I’ve been having from Windmill Farms. Bine & Vine’s website called it “Closest in relation to a Munich style Dunkel lager, Moonset is a lager bier built with various crystal and high dried malts to create a smooth malty backbone with a hint of roast, while still maintaining a crisp finish. Poured a dark reddish-brown color with 7-to-8 fingers of rocky khaki-white head. Could see lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled toast, toasty malt, hints of roasted coffee, dark fruit, fig, date, plum, Earl Gray tea, semi-char wood, hints of dark chocolate and some spice. Not as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got toast, toasty malts, hints of roasted coffee, semi-char wood, toasted oak, dark fruit, fig, date, plum, Earl Gray tea, some dark chocolate and peppery spice. (Taste - 4.00)
Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was outstanding overall. Glad I picked up a can. (Overall - 4.00)

Pours a beautiful clear red coppery color with clumps of foam in the Bellegems Bruin glass. Nose of bark and roasted malt. Slight malty sweetness with a dark scorched hint. Also a hint of dark grain. Modest bitter aftertaste. Certainly a more interesting kind of dark lager. I wonder what else I've tasted in this elusive style. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea's in the I-5 industrial wasteland.

Not much to say… but ‘Oh, yeah!” Because TDNE brings it again. On a hot spring day, Raul sure has hell felt lunar - because this Dark Lager slays. Like Buzz Aldrin chipping in for a Birdie, let’s go. Let’s all kinds of go.
