Fruit Equinox: Punch!

clever beer here, one of the weirder ones on their menu when we visited the brewery. this is a rotating series, and right now it has raspberry, cherry, and pomegranate in it, a cool fruit combination, but the base beer is different too, not a classic modern kettle sour, not just a fruited wheat type, a little more to it. its a rice based ale, tart from fruit not from bacteria to me, some our cherry in the mix for sure, and it has a gorgeous reddish pink color to it, soft haze, fine carbonation, and is light and summery without being minimal, a hard thing to do and they nailed it. its very fruity in aroma and flavor both, but it isnt sweet, its dry, and everything seems quite natural while the rice keeps the grain flavor and the body very light. raspberry adds tartness with the cherries, a hint of cherry candy too, subtle red currant astringency and even red wine tannins to me, rose anyway, quite piquant and mouthwatering, but also almost lager level crisp at the end, real nice clean and complete fermentation, definitely uncommon in this sort of heavily fruited thing. its peppy and alive, the fruit is real to me, and the overall quality is high. i like the bit of acidity this has, the vinous elements, and the freshness of it all. would love to try some of the other fruit combinations, but this one is a winner. excellent beer top to bottom in here!
