Blueberry - 2019 Harvest

Appearance is lightly foggy dark purple with a tall fizzy pastel purple-white foam that settles in lumps and retains an uneven blanket.

The nose exudes an amazingly freshly shaved sort of cedary humidor funk that's a little dusty and ashy before the almost vinous blueberry creeps in.

The exceedingly effervescent and uplifting body vanishes so quickly it takes several sips to get a good sense of it. Blueberry character again leans into dark and dry red wine qualities with only the faintest acidity. It really is barely sour, and amazingly complex. While dry in taste, it's only gently semi-dry and very clean in the swallow.

Just wow. I wish I had easier access to Field & Oak. If I'd had this blind and someone told me it was Drie Fonteinen, I would believe them. And sorry, but this is leaps and bounds better than Blåbær.

 

Pours a clear medium grape color, ample foamy violet foamy head that fizzles out quickly and loudly. Has a very nice blueberry aroma mixed with a good dose of funk, some earthy floral notes as well. Flavor is funky, earthy, floral, good blueberry flavor but not over the top. Good micro carbonation, acidity is mouthwatering. Overall a good beer.
