a little bit thin and amateur overall to me, but it was the best of the beers i had when i was in yesterday for the first time, and it has a couple of key things going for it. the first is that its not real sweet, so many of these are, even the malt part seems light despite the rusty amber color, this doesnt stick to my teeth, and it has nice carbonation keeping it moving as well, easier drinking than many of these. the other positive is that its not over spiced, another common pitfall for the style. hints of cinnamon and clove are no more than suggestions on the finish, which works in its favor, its not boring, but its not a spice bomb, and thats a good call with the recipe. the negatives are many too though, its murky and messy to look at even though it holds its head. the ferment is a little off, a slight zizzle on the tongue with it, and the malt seems kind of tired, could be to do with their wort being produced overseas if i heard right. its also watery feeling despite good carbonation, thin in a way that doesnt support any richness of flavor, and finally, it is questionable whether any actual pumpkin was used in this beer, its presence is not apparent at all. this seems like a work in progress, capable of being really good, but these folks might be lacking some attention to detail or expertise at this point. ill focus on the positives here though, they are still pretty new and this is better than some others ive had locally...
