Appearance - The beer was dark brown in appearance, with a slight head topping of a glass.
Smell - The layers of malt compose the nose, creating dense sweetness.
Taste - The beer was very caramel forward. It was sweet, but dark bread notes balanced it out in back. It was like dark liquid bread.
Mouthfeel - The beer had viscosity, allowing the profile to linger.
Overall - This was an excellent example of the style.

Clear, dark mahogany color; decent carbonation level; relatively thin head, light khaki colored. Fine smell; spicy caramel notes. Excellent flavor; toasted malt backbone with an almost winter holiday spiciness; medium-light bitterness; rye-like. Medium-heavy body; velvety; nice overall dryness.
A nice take on the doppelbock style. The flavor is full and robust.

Sweet caramel-toffee malty, brown bready, and hint of lemon and all-spice nose on this one! Yum! Taste follows with a soft, caramel malty and balanced, old-school hoppy bitter finish. At 8.2 ABV, this drinks way under its weight...no backend booziness detected. This is just an outstanding example of a doppelbock! So well done...fantastic!

16oz tallboy can. Poured into a Dimpled Stein.
Appearance: Deep chestnut brown bodied beer with huge frothy and voluptuous head. Light brown head that almost looks like the head on a rootbeer float.
Smell: Freshly baked rye bread with a light sweetness and a hint of caraway seeds.
Taste: Lots of big caramel malt sweetness & rye breadiness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. Creamy textured body. Still impressively drinkable even though it has a nice malty heftiness to it.
Overall: Another great Wondrous beer! This seems pretty authentic for the style. One of the best Doppelbocks that I have had. Great malty lager for sure.
