2022 vintage; consumed on 4/11/2024
Pours a murky, deep brown body capped with multiple fingers of creamy, off-beige foam; solid head retention leaves a steady finger of cap, modest collar, and a few strands of webby lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens overtly nutty, expanding to notes of fresh brown toast and vanilla shades over time, with chocolate malt accents supported by a lingering, subliminal whiskey presence.
Taste brings milk chocolate into underlying sensations of walnut and oak, with a tinge of toffee advancing past the mid-palate toward a pillowy nougat exhale.
Mouthfeel shows a light body and a rounded, fluffy carbonation, dispersing dry textures into a delicate prickle as distant bitterness accents modest roast grazing the back end of the palate.
Barrel-aging lends a nuttier overlay to a finely roasty base, accenting bittersweet chocolate tones to an enhanced dark lager with no signs of heat and subdued bourbon influence.

Thanks, Chris, Cassidy. This is just stupid good.
Lovely roast, toast, crisp dark lager base with the soft, fruity notes from extended lagering balancing the noticeable but deft bourbon barrel character. Oak is restrained. Quaffable. Despite the higher ABV, this is relatively light on the palate.
