this is pretty bad, a terrible first impression of these guys, and it sounded so good on paper, a sweet potato saison type, that sounds earthy and cool, but its a mess, the fermentation is all whack, possibly even infected, and it comes across as very amateur, i cant believe a beer like this can survive in a city so full of absurdly good beer! hopefully i just got mine poured into a glass that was rinsed in chemicals or something and that this doesnt actually taste like melted plastic, like when you leave the handle of a cheap fry pan over the adjacent burner thats on full blast by accident and the whole house smells like a chemical fire before you realize it, theres no way they did that right? i get no trace at all of sweet potatoes from this, and the yeast is so weird, not funky or rustic like i was hoping for, but like a belgian gone awry. its worse in the nose than the taste, but this is hardly tolerable. i realize that its a lot easier to sit behind a computer and be critical of a beer than it is to stand in front of a grain mill, on a brew deck, or on a kegging line and actually make one, but this is way off, and if i was responsible for it there is no way i would send this out in the world for people like me to suffer through. i need to try another big alice beer soon to give them a shot at redemption...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
