Tallboy from the LCBO; dated Apr 21 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours pale straw yellow, with less than an inch of foamy white head fizzling away within ninety seconds or so. It leaves behind a thin collar and cap, with little in the way of lacing - an average-looking lager. The aroma is similarly uninteresting, comprised mostly of grain husk and grassy hops. At least it smells clean.
A serviceable lager at best - not too sweet, with minimal contributions from the hop bill. Doughy malts and light honey sweetness come through initially, followed by bready, grainy malts and a flash of grassy hay at the finish. Slightly sweet, cardboard-y aftertaste that doesn't linger. Light in body, with moderately low carbonation that exhausts quickly; the mouthfeel is smooth and a little slick. Easy to drink, but dull and not particularly thirst quenching for the style.
Final Grade: 3.39, a B-. TGS Lager is O.K., but not a beer I'd be in a hurry to revisit, or recommend to others. It's a bog standard American lager, with no interesting features worth noting - drinkable, but very plain and forgettable. I doubt I'll buy this again, but I finished my glass easily enough and wouldn't turn this down if it were handed to me.
