Poured from 500mL bottle into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: pale, cloudy medium-orange hue with a finger of ivory foam atop.
Smell: it successfully achieves what it says on the tin — the strawberry and lemon both come through nicely. There’s a lightly toasty malt base here, and it’s not mega-sweet, which I like. Strawberry isn’t always a great fruit in a beer, but this isn’t bad.
Taste: lightly toasty and floral, like a pale ale, with hints of lemon and strawberry. There’s a little bit of a tart astringency that could be balanced with a little more sweetness, though, maybe.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: if you buy, open, and drink a beer called “Strawberry Lemonade”, you have to be prepared for what you get. While I probably wouldn’t have this beer be a go-to anytime, I gotta say, it’s far from the worst application of strawberry I’ve had in a beer. That said, a dash of sweetness would really help the balance here.
