named after pat tillman apparently, this is supposed to be a dry hopped lager, but its really rough. its immediately chemical to me, totally off on the ferment, undrinkably bad but i was the only one at the bar and couldnt leave without being overly rude, so i suffered through most of it but wow, this is the worst beer i have had in a long time, and these guys have some real figuring out to do. it always blows my mind to encounter a beer like this, i mean for sure whoever opened this brewery knows what a decent lager tastes like, and regardless of brewing know how or anything, should be able to identify that this is fundamentally flawed, this should have been dumped, not served. a shade or two deeper than yellow here, looking more malty than anticipated, and with the grain character cancelling some of the dry hopped characteristics, and this smells and tastes a little more like the pellets themselves than like anything specific to any one varietal, and is generic in an unflattering way, with a little late palate greenness but not much bitter. despite this weird balance, its the yeast side that throws this for me, its not appreciable as a lager in the least, and it seems so warm its phenolic, like a belgian strain gone awry, how do you even get there with a lager? its just messed up. manifests itself as melted plastic, a new box of heavy duty vinyl garbage bags, lemon floor cleaner, and a rotting composty sort of vibe, really gross, and it stays on the tongue forever. the carbonation is fine, the body is lighter than the color suggests, but its too late to save this. these guys need to seriously check themselves on quality, this is a disaster. i feel bad bashing a new spot, but why get in the game at all to pour beer like this? thankfully the others i tried here were better...
