a new wave mexican lager here, dry hopped with motueka, an interesting choice for the style but i guess it can bring lime notes to some beers when used in certain ways, so there is some theoretical symmetry with it, but this is hoppier than most in that way, and misses the noble grassiness and distinct flavor of saaz, which i think is the best choice for these. i like it, but it doesnt jump out of the glass as a mexican lager to me, even though i can appreciate the flavor of the yeast in that vein. the beer is light overall, not as clear as the best refined of these, but with a nice head and a ton of carbonation which are mandatory in the style for me. i love the life this has. its super minimal on the grain side which works to allow me to taste and appreciate the lager yeast, but the hops kind of make this tropical to me, kiwi fruit and melon more than the familiar lime and grass, and the bitterness i want isnt really there. that said, its super fresh and its a neat modern twist on a classic style, and even with the uniqueness in the flavor this remains super light to drink, like the hops dont distract from this still being a crusher. the beers are solid in here, they are out of the gate pretty hot. this is creative but not overly so, hits a little different than most mexican lagers, but its good, bright and easy and flavorful.
