A light, crisp and refreshing Pale Lager. Smooth and sessionable. Earthy, herbal and floral notes on the nose with a bright, slight citrus finish. Funkytown Brewery, winners of the Sam Adams Brewing the American Dream had an opportunity to brew a dream collab with Sam Adams of Boston Beer Co.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours golden orange yellow with a small fluffy head. Smells of sweet grain and citrus. Tastes of fresh crisp grain with nice citrus and fruit notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Undated can; drank 3/27/25 @ the Yarchives.
See-through dull yellow/orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
Mild notes of papaya & soft wheat in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Mild notes of papaya & soft wheat flavors.
Not much to this, but it's quite pleasant. I'd have another.

Seeing this on the shelf at Chicago's Beer Temple, there was my immediate question of how this nano (obviously, that refers to Funkytown) could be doing a collaboration with the crafter that is nearly as large as the majors. Answer: Funkytown convinced the Committee of Sam Adam's Brewing The American Dream contest. In this case, Funkytown's contest pitch is better than the beer. But even that is OK when considering the huge/nano contrast.
I'm not going to review this beer and debase the phenomenal moment these hugely divergent brewing cultures came together. What is important here is the event, not the beer. And most important, Cheers to these two organizations for showing what the American Dream can be if those that have are willing to help those with a lot less.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
