Review from notes. 473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. I think this is a slight tweak to the Farmer's Rhubarb Saison that was out a couple of years ago.

Appearance - Blonde, mildly hazy golden color with a finger plus of white head. Modest retention and a lack of lacing.

Smell - Is this a saison or a rhubarb beer? Faintest hint of candi sugar and fruit but mostly quite grainy.

Taste - Same comment as above. Very little to indicate a saison, no funk, no yeastiness, very little rhubarb flavor. The beer itself is not bad, just underwhelming given the name.

Mouthfeel - Expressive carbonation, thin body.

Overall - Underwhelming for me, would have loved a little more yeastiness or funkiness and spiciness out of this saison.

473 mL can from the LCBO; one of four brews included in their Mixed Pack Vol. 6. Dated Mar 25 2019, best before Sept 25 2019 and served slightly chilled. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a clear, pale blonde-yellow hue, with one finger of frothy white foam gathering atop. It's in a hurry to be somewhere else, however, having wilted down to a thin collar within a couple of minutes' time. Minimal lace development; looks a little substandard for this often visually spectacular style. Not much to say about the aroma, either - it's got some grainy, crackery pale malt sweetness, with (very subtle) notes of bubblegum, rhubarb juice and strawberry.

A decent Belgian-inspired farmhouse ale; the rhubarb is understated by my tastes, a more or less continuous background presence throughout the sip. Grainy, doughy pale malts comprise the bulk of the flavour, supported by notes of bubblegum/banana esters and a yeasty back end that peters out quickly into the aftertaste. Medium-light in body, with relatively assertive carbonation that remains prickly and lively well into the glass. Smooth, easy to gulp back, yet utterly lacking in memorable traits.

Final Grade: 3.49, a B-. An unremarkable brew at best, Wellington's Rhubarb Saison failed to instill strong feelings in me either way - I didn't hate it, but I'm not exactly scrambling to find more. The rhubarb aspects are underwhelming at best - so the folks looking for something fruity aren't likely to be super impressed - but even the underlying saison is a bit plain, along the lines of any boilerplate Belgian pale ale, so I just can't see this exciting very many BAs. This is the sort of beer that I'm willing to give another shot - and since it keeps showing up in their sampler packs, I might very well do so at some point - but it's not interesting enough to receive a serious endorsement.
