CRISP, GOLDEN LAGER
Crisp, refreshing, and smooth, this classic lager is the perfect go-to beer. Inspired by traditional German light lagers, this award-winning Helles Lager is light gold in colour with a balanced malt sweetness and crisp noble hop finish. Helles yeah!

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned March 26/25. My 13th beer from the Guelph, Ontario brewery, and 6th for 2026. Exceedingly embraced by Gracie the cat...

Pours pale clear gold with a crackly head that drapes the glass in lace. Some bread, grains and leafy hops in the nose. The taste is lightly malty with a clean, minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is light bodied with prickly moderate carbonation.
A straightforward light tasting lager.

Pours a thin foam head that fades away rather quick. Minimal lacing left behind. Filtered light golden color.
Taste is ok but a little light. It's not bad by all means but I prefer a little more kick to it. Still very easy to drink and an average beer drinker would really like this beer. It's just fine for me and I guess does the job. Nothing special at all.
Pairs really well with guacamole right now.

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A one finger bubbly white head on a clear yellow. the head soon diminishes to a ring. No lacing.
Grassy smell.
A clean malt taste. Bread and grass.
Smooth, light body. Moderate carbonation.
A solid Helles. One of Wellington's better offerings. Would buy again.

Canned July 02, 2019
Pours a decent foamy bubbly 1 finger head with medium retention, soapy lacing, semi hazy golden light pale color
Nose is pretty good, very grainy-sweet German pilsner malt, little cereal and raw bread dough, a touch lemony cake batter, light DMS corn and light floral hop
Taste lighter than expected and a touch watery, decent malt profile with a little cereal grain, bread dough, cake batter mostly, some grainy-sweet like German pilsner but not much, herbal spicy hops, medium to lighter bitterness, light mineral notes, and a strange herbal straw thing, finishes a bit drier but sticky, turning a bit more spicy hop bitterness
Mouth is thinner bodied a bit watery, medium-lighter carb
Overall mixed, started nice with a good Helles aroma, but taste fell flat and was thin... unfortunate as it had a lot of potential

can..pours a lightly hazed light gold with a 1 finger white cap that quickly disappears...Aroma is grainy, lightly sweet with just a whisp of grassiness....flavor profile has mild bready gristed malts out front with a sour-herbal compliment...finishes mild and liquid...not what I expect from a Munich helles....presence is too weak and the light ABV make for a lager lat is not fully satisfying...something lacking here...duble the grain bill, put some pearl cones in it don't filter and crank it up to 5.5Abv and you can call it a helles

473 ml can served cool into tulip. Part of the Welly Mix Pack 6. Wondering if there are some similarities with the recent TGIF Helles, although the can/bottle appearance is different and ABV is too. Review from notes. Best before August 18, 2019
Appearance - Clear and rich golden color, two fingers of fluffy white head, good lacing and moderate retention.
Smell - Clean and grainy, with some minerally notes.
Taste -Pretty good with lots of bready flavors, hints of grassy bitterness but full of flavor.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation.
Overall - A really solid Helles that matches up well with many of the best. A nice addition the the mixed pack and scored higher than the other Helles previously brought out by Wellington.

473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Jun 31 2019 and served well chilled. Now, I'm no chronologist, but I'm pretty sure June only has 30 days.... and FWIW, the stamp is very clearly printed, so I really doubt I'm misinterpreting it.
Pours bright and effervescent, with a pale golden-blonde body capped off with an inch of soapy white foam that gradually recedes over the next five-plus minutes. A fat collar and frothy cap remain, with plenty of lacing also left behind; very visually appealing. The aroma is clean, straightforward, and exactly what I want out of a helles lager - clean, cereal grain sweetness, with gritty hints of wheat husk juxtaposed with some subtle, grassy hops.
A very nice lager; it tastes mostly of grainy barley malts and cereal sweetness, with lesser notes of wheat bread. Just the slightest suggestion of apple skin, with a grassy, very mild noble hop bitterness coming through prior to the finish. Clean finish with some hints of grassy hay that linger briefly, fading into a relatively dry aftertaste. Light in body, with appropriately crisp carbonation levels that provide a decent bite; the overall texture is smooth, and its drinkability is through the roof.
Final Grade: 3.94, a B+. Wellington's Helles Lager was a pleasure to toss back. Not much different than their TGIF Helles Lager, which was in one of their samplers a year or two back - I feel like that might've been a trial run, which would make this the tweaked (and slightly improved) edition. I had a bottle of Hofbräu Original - which is easily my favourite helles lager - after finishing the main body of this review, for comparison's sake. Wellington's interpretation was the inferior helles of the two, but it still matched up better than I expected, and I'd still take this over, say, Spaten's or Löwenbräu. A quality domestic lager likely to enter my rotation in the future.

Good taste but too dry, there is no satisfaction in the glass, for me. I would keep the same profile but make the beer richer in body and savour. I couldn't finish the can.
