Celebrate the changing seasons with Festbier Oktoberfest Lager. Amber in colour with a toasty aroma and a hint of caramel, this well-balanced lager is a super drinkable beer with a refreshing dry finish. It’s a get-together in a glass and you’re invited, prost!

Review from notes. LCBO purchase and served cold into a pint glass.
Appearance - pretty clear, rich amber color with some additional brown hues. Decent finger and change of off-white head and moderate head retention.
Smell - Earthy, malty and bready with some sweet aspects. Fairly robust nose.
Taste - Matches the nose, with lots of bready flavors, some trace bits of caramel and a fairly full flavor. Earthiness is dialed back some.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, just the right amount of fizz and easy to drink.
Overall - A very solid festbier that goes down smoothly on a fall afternoon.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 4 2024 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden amber colour, producing an inch of soapy, bubbly, bone white-tinged head that lasts for two or three minutes. A frothy collar is left behind, with scant lace deposition - looks fine so far. Honey and caramel on the nose, with notes of toasted bread, biscuity malts and doughiness, as well as a hint of spicy, herbal hops.
It's a solid festbier, boasting a clean, malty flavour profile of toasted grains, biscuits and caramelized sugars. Hints of spicy noble hops crop up on the back end, with a touch of herbal bitterness; the aftertaste is a little sweet initially, but trends dry. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, with average carbonation that softly tickles the tongue; feels smooth, with excellent drinkability. Drinking this one after another would be no problem at all.
Final Grade: 3.83, a B+. I won't pretend that Wellington's Festbier is one of the best I've ever had, but I do think it's a well-made, worthwhile lager. This brewery has had mixed results with German-style brews: they aren't really known for their lagers in the first place, but this is one of their stronger efforts (and I still say their Helles is underrated). In any event, you should definitely seek out and try this festbier while it's still in season - I sure plan to revisit it in the coming weeks.

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A scant two finger head on a slightly hazy dark amber. The head soon disappears. Minimal lacing.
Grainy, grassy malt smells.
Tastes of toasted grain. Some caramel. Sweet towards the end. A mild hop finish.
A medium light body. Medium light carbonation.
Overall smooth and well balanced. this leans towards the Marzen end of the Oktoberfest scale, which I prefer. Well worth a try.

Can from LCBO racked 2 weeksome spicy hop notes and a wet hay décernement....welll balanced mellow character....flavor has ches ago....pours a lightly hazed light amber-gold with a puffy 2 finger cap....aromas of toasted grains wy toasty malts up front which are then balanced out by the noble hops, light sweetness vanishes in the finish as it goes dry and crisp...a tad light for the Marzen style but a decent enough session lager for festing paired with German cuisine.
