Smooth and malty with an undertone of sweetness within a bitter middleground.

12 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a slightly hazy, honey-amber color with a half finger of creamy, light khaki-colored head and thick, soapy lacing. The nose is appropriate for an ESB with caramel malt, toffee, and nuts. It's tasty with earthy, nutty, caramel malt and lots of bitterness at the finish. It's medium-bodied with appropriate carbonation, and the 5.1% ABV is spot on. Overall, The Churchill is a fine Extra Special Bitter. It would be great on cask. Let it warm a bit in the glass so the flavors emerge.
