Tallboy from the brewery; there's a canning date, but I can't read it. Served slightly chilled. Billed as a "dirty blonde lager", which I presume means unfiltered.
Pours a lightly fogged golden blonde colour, kicking up one finger of loose, soapy white head that lasts for three minutes or so. By that point, it has been reduced to a thin, sudsy collar and some scant flecks of lace. It smells of doughy, bready pale malt sweetness and wheat, with hints of grassy, herbal hops.
A serviceable craft lager: I'm tasting grain/wheat at the forefront, with bready malt sweetness close behind. Some vaguely noble, herbal hops come through towards the finish, along with hints of lemon rind; bitterness is low, concluding with a slightly grainy aftertaste that doesn't linger. Light in body, with moderately lively carbonation that lends a crisp, prickly feel to this lager's smooth texture; it's refreshing and very drinkable, potentially in large quantities.
Final Grade: 3.58, a B grade. Two Water's Hill Street Dirty Blonde is an unremarkable beer, but that doesn't mean it's a poor lager. Indeed, if your main concern is sessionability, then this is a perfectly fine option - in fact, if you're considering this purely as a 'light beer', I'd say the flavours are well above average, too. There are more affordable beers in this category of comparable quality, but it still gets an unenthusiastic thumbs up from this beer geek - I'm sure I'll drink it again.
