The definitive ESB. A reddish beer of medium malt flavor coupled with a crisp dry hop finish. This beer is a hop lover’s dream. Dry hopped with Chinook, one of the strongest finishing hops available.

Had a couple of pints of the ESB at lunch today for $4 per pint.

Beer was served amber-orange with a nice white lacing that hung aound a while.

Nose was hints of apple and malt.

Taste had a nice malt backbone that was balanced out by apple and citrus hops.

Moufhfeel was llight to medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Very refreshing!

Overall this was a very nice brew, a good representation of the style. Tasted very good after a morning doing a hike and the tourist thing in town. Give it a shot if you are in the brewpub.

I had this on tap at the brew pub in Flagstaff, AZ.
A: clear medium amber, with a fairly good off-white head. Excellent lacing.

The aroma was rather faint and fruity, with a light hop note.
Taste: stronger than ther aroma suggests, with plenty of light, medium and caramel malts. Nice balancing and lightly spicy hop component. A bit maltier and less bitter than average for style. Recommended.

A - Pours with half a finger of off white foam on a golden-amber body with brilliant clarity. The head settles quickly and leaves little lace.

S - a spicy hop aroma with some caramel malt.

T - caramel and toffee malt up front. Some spicy hops in the middle. Finishes with dry toast, red apple and moderate bitterness.

M - medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - a reasonably well done example is the style. The malt character lacks the depth of the bready bitters, but it gets the job done.

Appearance: Nice copper brown appearance. Kinda flat and no foam to speak of. Lacing is good.

Smell: Strong pine hops with caramel. Good, but not particularly original.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Nice almost coffee-like bitterness. A bit fruity in the background with some lingering sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit rough, but works with this.

Drinkability: Good session.

Overall: See drinkability.

Appearance: clear amber with a thick 2" head lasts a while. Nice lacing develops.

Smell: mild bitterness and some soft fruitiness comes through.

Taste: caramel, ripe plums, pears, and apples. Bitterness is mild but nicely balancing.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp to start, less so at the end. Some light dryness arrives late. Aftertaste is fruity and short-lived.

Drinkability: clearly a serious session ale that has a nice flavor and is easy to quaff. Nice beer.

I had this on tap at the brew pub in Flagstaff, AZ. It had a deep red/golden color and was cloudy. It had a foamy and long lasting white head. The smell was mainly of fruits - pears or apples or something...and some hops. The front part of the taste was fruity, but then that was masked by the strong and bitter hops and a bit of alcohol taste and aftertaste.

Had a couple of pints on draft at the pub tonight. Pours a pretty copper-amber color topped by a small, creamy white head. Not a whole lot of aroma initially, as it's served pretty cold. As it warms, light English malt and some nice floral Chinook hops. Palate is well-balanced between the malt and the assertive hops, but the hops become much more pronounced on the finish. A mellow - yet decidedly bitter - finish is very nice. Not a strict conformity to the style, but a damn good beer nonetheless.
