perhaps the very last style of beer i expected to find in casper wyoming, but i could not have been more stoked on it, and they absolutely nailed this. an often forgotten low alcohol ale made with smoked wheat malt, ive long been a fan, and they absolutely nailed this. its pale yellow in color, super soft looking, mildly hazy, with a lot of fizz but just a short white head from the tap, some lacing as it drinks down. it looks light and approachable. the nose is great, wet earth, dry wheat, hard oak, light smoke, hot dog bun, maybe a little oat thing, some protein it seems, very earthy, lightly hopped with something old world too i would guess, a wrinkle of black pepper. the flavor is amazing as well, the smoke is all through it, and its a distinct smoke, rich and smoldering, but never overpowering, i taste some almost rawness to the wheat too, and this is super rustic even with a rather clean ferment. lightly bitter to finish, fluffy feeling but also super delicate, well carbonated, and tidy except for a little lingering smoke. great proportions to this, full of minerals too, really true to style and professionally done. hands down my favorite beer i had in here, and maybe my favorite beer i had on my entire trip to wyoming, really impressive stuff, i hope the locals come to love this. huge credit to this place for putting this out right away, bold move for a brand new brewery in this area...
