Handsome orangey-brown brew with sticky foam in the Duvel nonic. Pleasant aroma of roasted grain. Quite sudsy and thick in the mouth. Starts with some malty sweetness and a touch of caramel, then some burnt sugar. The finish is quite bitter and scorched tasting. Overall this is a highly flavorful dark brew, but overly hopped as with so many American versions of European beers. Lovely mouthfeel and a nice aroma, though. I enjoyed this collab with my favorite highlight of finding zero sweetness amongst the nicely blended malt flavors. Pours a deep brown to black with decent foam and carbonation presenting. Pumpernickel bread and unsweetened toffee with an earthy hop finish are the flavors to be had. Not overly complex and maybe a touch on the thin side, this beer is very easy drinking, and I'd gladly have it again.
