Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.79
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Oct. 3, 2020
Consumed: Oct. 4, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Sept. 9, 2020
Grabbed a can of this and bunch of other stuff from Windmill Farms. Online description called this, “NE IPA featuring three different British malts and a wicked extreme dry hop regimen with HBC-344, HBC-568, Mosaic, Citra and Loral.” Looking up 344, the flavor profile is green apple and tropical aroma. Couldn’t really find anything substantive on 568.
Poured a pale-to-golden hazy color with three fingers of white frothy head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up from the sides of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled big pine needle, mint, grass, black pepper, floral, herbal, green apple, pear, grapefruit rind, Mosaic, mixed berry and bubblegum. Much of the same from the can, smelling like a forest. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose with some more orange citrus flavors. In order got pine needle, mint, grass, tangerine, orange creamsicle, black pepper, herbal, green apple, pear, grapefruit rind, floral, Mosaic, mixed berry, bubblegum, lemon and citrus zest. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Damn. I like this one. Maybe it’s the new hops, but this was very complex to me. Just a world-class beer. (Overall - 4.50)

I've really gotten into Beachwood this year, as my cousin introduced me to a couple of their prominent IPAs. This hopped up NE-style IPA is proof of their game. Purchased at Howie's Cellar (part of Howie's Market) in North San Gabriel, CA.
The pouris a hazy orange pour, with a moderate head. The aroma is enticing: earthy, piney, and citrusy. I get a strong earthy, piney, floral taste in this brew with great citrus flavors. I singled out some stone fruit, mango and cantaloupe among the flavors. The mouthfeel is medium, and it has a pleasant, though non-lingering, aftertaste. Strongly recommend this NEIPA.

16 oz cab poured into a tulipy beer glass.
Look: golden yellow, a bit of haze. not much in the way of head though, about .5 of a cm with a vigorous pour.
Smell: orange, citrus, cantaloupe, lychee. Lots of fruit.
Taste: much like the smell, a little more reserved though. Juicy. Not much malt or bitterness.
Feel: surprisingly heavy, feels like orange juice in the mouth, without much carbonation to lighten it. Not much length.
Overall: loved the smell, really enjoyed the taste, but the rest felt a bit off

On fire like a blood moon at midnight. Dialing on all cylinders like my girl Ariana Grande tonight. I take a sip and I just feel good. I let it slither down my gullet and I feel alive. Yellow like a jealous devil. Look me in the eye. I feel alive.

Beachwood does it again...another great beer that hits the style on the head. No wonder these guys are a top 5 brewery in the world, versatile, always interesting and ever-evolving. Full disclosure, I am a west-coast IPA fanatic and this is a nice change of pace. Pick this one up!
