Picked this up at the last moment with three other singles and a 4-pack. Beachwood doesn’t put out bad beers, so I had to grab it. Can description read, “Beachwood Brewing has partnered with the Long Beach Symphony in recognition of its 85th anniversary to bring you Hopsonata, a well-composed aromatic IPA, in all its symphonic splendor. Hops were listed as Mosaic, Ekuanot, Citra, Loral and Crystal, with American 2-row for the malt. Really familiar with Mosaic and Citra, familiar with Ekuanot, semi-familiar with Loral and just basic knowledge of Crystal.
Poured a golden clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass at different speeds. Decent watery lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled Mosaic, Ekuanot and Citra for sure right way. Also stone fruit, floral, peach skin, blueberry, mixed berry, mango peel, papaya, herbal, green leaf and lime. So much better out of the can. Wow. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really good. Got Mosaic, Citra, Ekuanot, stone fruit, blueberry, mixed berry, mango peel, peach skin, floral, papaya, lime, green leaf and herbal. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Outstanding overall. Grew on me as it went down. (Overall - 4.00)
