This was another winner from Nick U's backyard, July 2017 before the Heartbreaker & Stapleton show at Summerfest. Big Central Waters fan, this was a treat.
Pours a dark brown bordering on black color, Central Waters is really good at not making sludge barrel aged stouts. The coffee was a definite second chair beyond the sweet tequila impression, this one was sweeter than their other tequila barrel aged beer we had that night.
Taste as it has been mentioned before, does come off like a tequila barrel peruvian morning. I dug it. Wasn't heavy, as usual Central Waters makes 10% easy, without going the sludge route, you have a nice sturdy base but without the heft and viscosity that makes people resort to Chicago pours. Cocoa nibs plentiful enough to smooth it out, but not so much that the sweetness is competing with the other parts. Manages to go tequila first, but a chocolate and coffee script as supporting actors who nail their roles. Very well done.

Similar to Peruvian Morning but the tequila barrel just wasn't quite for me. Somehow the coffee flavors got masked by a barrel that wasn't as strong as the bourbon barrels CW normally uses.

Pours a dark cola color with a thin Khaki very little lacing but a fresh collar. Smell is chocolate and agave wood and coffee/malt. Taste follows nose a good amount of sweet chocolate mixes well with the tequilla i was quite im pressed a little cocoa, vanilla it all mixes well. Mouth feel was spot on nothing dominated here just a well made BA Stout.

a truly ridiculous beer. who would even think in the first place that this combination of things would go well together? i am not even sure it does, but i am pretty impressed here. its got a ton of tequila, which normally i would be a little turned off by in a big stout, but its important i think to this working out that its in front of any coffee or chocolate flavors, it just seems like it would be way too much if those were equally as pungent. instead, the tequila, which has a smooth woody anejo sort of complexion, comes through the rich stout really nicely, with its classic lush agave freshness still very much alive, and the roasted elements in the malt and maybe even from the cocoa nibs too, really give it a cool bitter earthen low end, which i think it needs to stay grounded. the wood is there for sure, but the spirit is almost hot, even through a big stout like this. coffee might be a little oxidized or green peppery, but that also seems to oddly work with the tequila because its not too much. the chocolate is there for sure, but it never gets sweet, which saves it i think. not sure how much of this beer anyone could really consume in one go, but its also true that there is literally nothing like it, and its hard not to be impressed with this combination. rich in feel but not too much so, the liquor element cuts it back a little, and the finish is quality tequila, dark chocolate, and smooth roasted barley, really pretty awesome honestly. central waters sure knows their way around some barrels...

On tap at CW. Pours a medium brown body, one finger mocha head, short retention, not much lacing. Smell is of cocoa, fair bit of agave, touch of roasted coffee, light milk chocolate. The tequila barrel comes out strong here, and it does so similarly on the flavour profile. Heavy tequila and agave dominates here, touch of coffee roast, milk chocolate and a bit of cocoa. Heavy on the tequila. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, good carbonation, more tequila on the finish. If you enjoy your tequila, this is the stout for you. Alas, I don't find it complex enough to keep things more interesting for me. Solid execution, though.
