This imperial stout is robust yet retains an amazing ability to be so smooth it could be called Velvet Elvis. Dripping with chocolate and caramel with enough roast and and hop bitterness to balance itself, this beer is dangerously drinkable.

12 oz can poured into a wine glass. Beautiful pitch-black appearance with a voluminous tan head and cascading bubbles - almost nitro-like. Unfortunately that is the best part about this beer. The aroma and flavor are complex with dark roasted malt and hints of dark fruit, vanilla, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate with some earthy hops. However, there is also a strong fusel alcohol note that makes it seem like I'm drinking an imperial stout with a shot of gasoline. Not pleasant. I poured out most of the beer. It would seem that this beer needs time in a barrel in order to be palatable. At least to me.

12 ounce can, canned on 11/19/20. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and caramel. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some earthy and a bit of anise flavor noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit syrupy and slick with a moderate amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink. I thought this was a good overall imperial stout, always nice to find one that doesn't have a bunch of adjuncts in it. Definitely worth trying if you like imperial stouts!

Central Waters Fat Elvis Imperial Stout, 10.5% ABV. Pours thick and black, with a one-finger light brown head that left no lacing. Nose is roast malt and chocolate. Taste follows, slightly bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. A good solid imperial stout.

I took a chance on this one - $13 for an imperial stout 12oz 4-pack is a good price...... if it's good. And it is! It's not quite there with Founders KBS or CBS, but it's no far off. It is really full and delicious and quite potent. This is a great sipping beer I have re-bought it twice now. I'm way over in NY, so I'm surprised that my store has it and that there are only 31 reviews. If you're into imperial stouts, definitely give this a go.

12oz can from Halftime. Near black pour, tiny beige ring. Big roasty aroma. Flavor adds some coffee notes, dark bitter chocolate. Smooth, bitter, dry. And damn good...
