Our barleywine aged 18 months in bourbon barrels kissed with scrumptious pecan pie. This beer is the result of a delicious collaboration with Eagle Park Brewing in Milwaukee.

16oz can courtesy of Toby. (as Pecan Pie Barleywine at 12.1%). Dark brown opaque pour, a few bubbles. Nutty, pecan aroma coupled with the whiskey barrel. Taste adds some brown sugar/molasses notes to the pecans, vanilla, for the full on pecan pie effect. Sweet.

This one pours a dark-ish golden brown, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This one smells like nutty malt, caramel, dusty oak, molasses, bourbon, and pecan.
There's very little actual pecan pie flavor here, just a very, very good barrel aged barleywine. There's caramel, tobacco, vanilla, oak, molasses, brown sugar, with just the slightest kiss of nutty pecan on the back end.
This is pretty creamy, with no real booziness, and a decently thick body for this brewery.
I wouldn't have necessarily known that this was supposed to invoke pecan pie, if I didn't know that already. I would immediately be able to tell that it was an extremely tasty barleywine, though.

A big thanks to Jeff for this one.
16oz. can into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Pours super dense and heavy. No head but big, slick, oily legs. Nose is almost yeasty. I get hints of booze, caramel, molasses, chewy pie crust, brown sugar, syrup, and tobacco. Some preserved dark fruit too. Very aromatic though the Pecan Pie aspect is noticeably absent for the most part. Beer opens sweet. Nuttiness is apparent up front but fades quickly. Notes of syrup, molasses, caramel, and brown sugar in the middle. Tobacco, more syrup, and more molasses and brown sugar at the finish and aftertaste. This is a perfectly aged barleywine but again, the pecan pie is barely there. Body is fulll with low carbonation. Smooth and rich on the palate and goes down warm, heavy, and boozy with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. The feel is near perfect.
Overall this is an incredibly well aged barelywine that really demonstrates its age through the richness of flavor and density of the feel. However, I don't get much Pecan Pie here at all.
