A- see through golden colored body with a minimal white head that fades quickly and leaves no lacing behind.

S- sweet and artificial apricots. light bready malts. reminds me of a jolly rancher.

T- the taste is about the same as the smell, but the bready malts come through alot stronger than the jolly rancher like apricot.

M- medium to light bodied with a very high level of fizzy carbonation.

D- this has little to nothing wheat like about it. i wont buy this again, and probably wont drink it either.

I am usually open to trying fruit wheat beers and lambics, so obviously there are some good and some bad examples.

After pouring one of these in a chilled pint glass at home, I found the flavor so much weaker than the smell. I was half expecting to get bowled over by apricot, when in fact it was just the opposite. The pour is very light, minimal head. High carbonation for the style.

Since I got a six of this, I figured I would try one from the bottle. Believe it or not, the beer is much better from the bottle. I think the fact that you are not hit with so much of the smell in each drink really helps your expectations of flavor.

One great point to make about this beer. BAKERS NOTE.... This beer makes an excellent beer bread. The apricot flavor and smell comes through in the bread.

I got this six pack at Trader Joe's on 86th St. in Indianapolis.

I will try the blueberry before I write the brand off.

Also, $5.99 a six is at least worth a try.

Ar- very perfume like aroma with a fruit background and a touch of malt and wheat. (3.0)
Ap - Poured with little to no head. Very clear with a dark golden color, like a slightly thick apple juice (3)
Fl - Perfume quality with flavor too with a rather prominent dryness (that seems in the middle rather than the finish), that strips the apricot flavor at its peak and brings on the mild bitterness (3.5)
Mf - Soft, low carbonation, fairly smooth and a notch above light body (4)
D - this drink quite easily, goes down light and smooth. Probably especially good in summer but a decent break from heavy beers (4)
thanks John.

Appearance- It is a light orange color with lots of little white bubbles in the body that forms about a finger and a half of head and decent lace.

Smell- It smelled more like juice drink than a beer. Very overwhelming.

Taste- The taste was a little bit better. The apricot flavor was still dominant but the were some wheat beer flavors to this beer. The aftertaste is like a very sour peach.

Mouthfeel. Light but very carbonated.

Drinkability- It was fun to try but that is as far as I would go.

Poured an off yellow color with a decent foam head that disappears quickly and a pretty watery pour at that. Only apricot on the nose with mild malt and lackluster hops. I didn't taste any hops used in the beer at all. Pretty unabalanced, macro like and went to the lowest bidder. Stay away from this one for sure.

So far, I haven't found a "diamond in the rough" amongst these kennebunkport offerings (now offered at 5.99 a six pack at Trader Joe's).

Looks decent enough. Golden orange, small foam head, leaves a tin white crust. The smell is part of the beer (much like the Blueberry wheat). Smells like Apricot ... but perhaps just a bit too strongly of Apricot.

The taste is chemical laden alcohol and carbonated water. Doesn't taste much like beer, no malt, etc. Thin, watery mouthfeel.

Avoid.

If you are a real beer drinker then you should avoid this at all costs. I opened the bottle and could smell a strong fruity aroma. It is something you may want to give to your girlfriend who doesnt like beer. It looked fine when poured into a mug. Decent color and head retention, but thats about it. Too fruity and not enought beer taste.

A: Very clear, no haze which I expected from a wheat, so was dissapointed.
S: Sweet. strong apricot/peach like smells. Resembles a wine cooler.
T: Not as much taste as smell. Infact this is more like an apricot sparkling water then a beer. A slight malt wheat flavor on the finish.
M: Very crisp, high carbonation like sparkling water. Refreshing at most.
D: Like I said sparkling water. Not very much going on and yes you could prob drink alot of this but I would not want to.

There is the slightest of a chill haze to this light amber brew. Not much of a head and no lace.

Smells like someone added appricot jam to a light beer--quite sweet. Yet, it is appealing.

More tart than sweet, in fact, it is quite dry. The apricot is overpowering. The aftertaste is also mostly apricot jam. Loses points for a lack of wheat flavor. Also, this beer does not have much body.

I like the apricots but there isn't much else to this beer. It is drinkable but far from spectacular.

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. pours a light amber color with two fingers of tight white head.

aroma is mainly of apricot, with a touch of citrus, and little else. malt is lightly detectable, but is overpowered by the fruit.

taste is more of the same, though a bit more wheat malt gets through to the palate. flavor is smoother than the aroma, though still lacking in the balance between fruit and malt.

mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a mild amount of biting CO2, and a semi-smooth finish. aftertaste is of lingering wheat malt and apricot.

drinkability is decent. fans of fruit brews should take a liking to this one, although it is rather unbalanced. the wheat malt is ancillary at best, and the sweetness overrides any possibility of mildness.

Appearance - not very wheaty for a wheat beer. Looks pale golden with a little chill haze. Weak head, no lacing.

Aroma - more apricot than grain, about a 90/10 split. Just a trace smell of grain. Easy enough to work with but not hitting the style.

Taste - the first taste is an expected sweet, fruity, candy flavor. The swallow has a little more teeth, a more seriously fruity flavor without the sweetness. More concentrated. Whether that is the seltzery carbonation cutting through the sugar or a touch of balancing hops, I'm not sure but it makes this beer much better. The finish stays true, not returning to the sweeter side. The beery part is vaguely that. Just a common graininess, but that's partially the point so the apricot has center stage. Tasty but not great.

Mouthfeel - full carbonation, very crisp and fizzy. Thinner than average.

Drinkability - one of the better apricot beers I've had. I'd have it again, but not too many at once.

12oz bottle, trader joes.

A light brownish/orangish color.

Actually smells pretty good, an apricot and orange aroma.

Really sweet. Really dry. Hint of wheat. Tastes like some strange soda more than beer.

Has the mouthfeel that any crappy micro would have.

Too sweet to drink very much, I'm going to struggle through this one as it is.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joe's poured into a pint glass

A: Crystal clear light amber/golden color with a thick head of large bubbles that quickly dissipates down to a ring of large bubbles. Doesn't really look like beer.
S: Apricot, canned peaches, no hops, alcohol or anything beer like present
T: The first few sips of this were....awful. Brief sweetness followed by a bad tasting dryness. As it warmed up/I got used to it becomes slightly more balanced (the transition of the flavor from tolerable to awful became less severe). No hops present anywhere. Doesn't even resemble a wheat beer
M: Thin, over carbonated, no balance, not very enjoyable. Aftertaste is just awful dry, carbonated feel. Not good.
D: This is still marginally tolerable after initial shock so I'm rating drink ability higher than I initially considered. I would never purchase this again. Rather than pouring out the rest I'm considering adding some peach schnapps (hooray for stupid ideas)

Clear light amber with a sodalike head of white that immediately fizzles to nothing. Very sodalike appearance.

Aroma is sweet candy apricot with slight metallic wheat notes.

Flavor is wet dog water infused with artificial apricot. Bad, bad, bad.

Mouthfeel is razor thin, watery, and highly force-carbonated.

Drinkability? Ask my kitchen sink!

The Apricot Wheat pours an off yellow hue with a nice foam head that disappears quickly and leaves no foam head. No apparent freshness date on the bottle. The only thing I could get from the aroma was apricot. I didn't taste any hops used in the beer at all. It was pretty unbalanced and in the mouth it didn't leave much of a trace. Overall I would have it again.

A deeper-than-pale yellow with a small white head that doesn't have much staying power. As you raise the glass, two apricots suddenly lodge in your nostrils. No malt or hop aromas can fight their way through the apricot attack. The flavor is less dominated by the apricot, and a bit of malt sweetness does make it through once it warms up a little. I could not detect any hop presence through the sourness of the fruit. Is this a drinkable beer? I suppose if one likes carbonated fruit-flavored beverages in the style of the Mexican Jarritos (sp?) brand, but then why are you drinking beer? If you want to enjoy a beer, this is far too one-dimensional to keep your interest after the first half of the bottle.

Poured into a pint glass.

Heavily advertised at my local Trader Joe's, I thought I'd pick up a mixed 6 pack of the Kennebunkport beers. This particular brew had me most interested. I love apricot, but apricot beers usually leave me underwhelmed. Well, so did this one - color is pale yellow with minimal head that doesn't retain at all. Immediately evident is the apricot. From the second you smell this beer, the apricot hits you in the face, which is fine. The taste is better - a little sour with a slight note of hop presence, but still very true to apricot. Mouthfeel is thin with moderate carbonation. I know this beer is at least a little drinkable because my wife, who dislikes beer for the most part, really enjoyed this one. Thumbs totally in the middle - good for those who don't like beer, though.
