another pleasant drinking lager from these guys this one slightly hoppier with a nice dry hop charge on it, not sure the varietals in play, but i could rip on these pretty hard, highly refined and approachable, a favorite of mine from our first visit here. blonde and clean looking, some luster, an airy inch or more of white head, all of their stuff was well carbonated when we were there, nice to have some lagers with some life. the nose on this is subtle, floral and white winey to me a little bit, perhaps a lime leaf note, could be southern hemisphere, galaxy or something, but its not robust enough in the dosage to be obvious to me, there is some bready lager yeast character here, some crackery pale malt, and enough balance that there is no sense in trying to pick it apart, good water chemistry, simple overall. the flavor follows the nose, with the hops staying real low bitterness and hitting pretty early, by the end its as much lager yeast as hops, all real tidy and tight, and all super fresh to me, this is vibrant and young and polished already, impressive. cut flowers and a little green lawn thing in summer, trace eucalyptus or even menthol but way back and adding freshness to this, and clean and almost gone on the swallow, just a trace of residual sugar lingers for a flash. refreshing and flavorful, i hope they keep this one in their full time lineup, already one of the better lagers in the area. if you havent been in berts yet, its time to go check them out!

Taster flight at Berts on opening day. Clear golden pour, thin foamy head subsides. Aroma is grainy, biscuity. Tastes comes through clean, sweet, light. Goes down easily.
