Space Jazz is our no frills straight up Imperial Stout brewed with a plethora of dark specialty malts as well as a touch of some flaked oats for that chewy mouthfeel and hopped with a restrained amount of Chinook & Cascade, for good measure.
Space Jazz pours a deep & dense midnight black with notes of bakers chocolate, a really good pull of espresso, toffee, and sweet caramel.

16oz can served in a tulip. Can is dated 11/07/23. Sent to me by the saintly @jonphisher.
Pours opaque black with a small brown head, slightly lumpy, with a thick ring sustained by a noticeable amount of carbonation. Smell is rich and roasty, dark coffee, burnt molasses, dates.
Taste follows pretty well in general, though balance shifts a bit. More of the burnt molasses, the roasty + dates turns into a very dark chocolate. Molasses sweetness.
Mouthfeel is rich and silky. Overall, very nice beer.

Pours black with not much carb; I was able to get a nice big head but only cause I evoked the beast within; light brown, creamy looking, good retention and well above average lacing; every sip leaves a nice bit of froth clinging to the glass.
Nose when cold is licorice, bark like and woodsy, sort of reminds me of an combination of the spices in root beer and coke without all the sweetness; good little bit of char, little lite hint of alcohol presence, light unsmoked tobacco.
Taste brings the same wood and licorice; dark chocolate and overly roasted coffee bite on the finish; burnt character lingers on the finish; as it warms it becomes richer in dark chocolate and espresso, the chocolate becomes the dominant aftertaste.
Body is medium-large, a tad thin for such a big beer but not overly so; the carbonation is low, as expected and aids in the velvety feel; there is a moderate bitterness that really builds on the back of the tongue...this one is quite easy to sip which makes it a little dangerous to drink, just the slightest hint of warming from the ABV; a pleasant slow warming with no burn or heat.

(12 oz tulip pour at brewery today, 8.1% abv)
Lovely brown foam, decent retention; dark brown liquid... bit of roasted, coffee-like grain on nose, toasty cookie malt... simple, mellow flavors; bit of back end roast and semi-sweetish malt; bit of an acrid, burnt, vaguely musty back note (oxidized somehow too?)... smooth, lightly-silky medium body; little warmth if any; finishes relatively light, little residual viscosity... malty enough, yet simple 'imperial' stout; could use a little more edge to the roast and alcohol and/or more character from the grains/fermentation; probably wouldn't get again, but $5 for the pour was nice (1601)
