This unfiltered abbey beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle, is surprisingly light and tasty. Lots of citrus, herbs and bright hops dominate the nose. The finish is dry and hoppy thanks to the dry hopping at the end of the brewing process.

Poured 330ml bottle into a tulip. A big rocky, Three finger white head on a hazy dirty gold. It might have been more clear but I didn't handle the bottle well before pouring. Excellent head retention. It slowly diminishes but sticks around until the end. lots of fine lacing.
Spice and some mild esters in the nose. Tastes of mild fruit up front. Sweet fruit in the middle, Slight citrus. A dry, delicate, almost imperceptible hop finish.
A medium/light body and good carbonation. Very smooth and balanced. Overall a top Belgian Pale Ale. Well worth a try.

330 ml bottle served cold into a goblet. LCBO purchase.
Appearance - Hazy golden brew with some honey brown highlights. A finger or so of tight white head and a soapy collar of lacing lingers behind.
Smell - Yeasty with a pinch of lemon and general sweet bready notes.
Taste - Sweet with bready and a powdery donut like quality. Lacking a bit in bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, good expressive carbonation, easy to drink.
Overall -Solid Belgian Pale ale, would happily enjoy another couple.

At my lady Pamela's house; bottled and slightly chilled, 330mL in a pint glass. From The Roundhouse Centre LCBO in nearby Windsor. Best before April 6/26. My first beer from the Oudenaarde, Belgium brewery. With Gracie the cat...

Copenhagen 8/2 2021. 33 cl bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. Simple elegant off-white label with a simple drawing of a monk sniffing a beer.
Pours unclear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with earthy yeasty fumes and light citric notes. Sweet pale malts. Musty basement. Whiff of citrus.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Finish is semi-dry.
Lives up to the inspiration from everyday Abbey beer. Solid.

Found at Adelaide's Belgian Beer Cafe and paired this with the somewhat spicy cauliflower chicken wings. And the Pater made the meal better, half of its job and for which it and Roman get good Overall Hugs.
The other half was the brew's character and Pater Looks appretizing, medium-sized bubbles that stick around. Cloudy. Yeasty. Smells are mostly fruity, half citrus and half apple/pear. With an active Belgian yeast, some spices get introduced in the Taste and they are interesting enough that I will probably have Pater again soon if I can. Medium-mouthed and sufficiently bubbly for a good table ale.
Glad to find Pater and I will have it again.
3/20/26 Found Pater again, but at the Roman brewery on Podge's tour of Belgian Family Brewers Assn. (BFBA). Interesting, my ratings a year later are almost the same. However after many generations, I suspect the consistency comes more from Roman. They are among the largest BFBA members and they offer the full range of abbey and Belgian ales including Lo-No ABVs.

Bottle at Las Buenas Pulgas, served in a trappist glass. Hazy golden color, medium head with long retention, reducing to a tiny layer. Good lacing. Aroma has some hops, citrics, spices, malts. Medium to full body, average carbonation, bitter dry finish. Taste follows the aroma. Very good.

L- Very pale straw, almost somewhat anaemic, slightly cloudy plus a large pillowy white foam head. [Pour very slowly, my slow pour still *eagerly* formed a large head, leaving me holding the bottle (with sediment) at an angle for 2mins while the foam in the glass settled back.
S- Mild, I just get a sense of dryness which can suggest prominent hopping.
T- it is pretty dry with a hoppy edge. I get a mild spicy note too, that builds quite a lot as the beer slowly warms.
F- It is on the dryer side of the spectrum, say medium-dry. It being lower ABV% that many other Ename beers I've had means 'despite being a Belgian Trappist beer' it comes over as quite light.
O- At one point I wonder if the taste/feel are similar to a good German Weissbrau where those facets have been doubled or tripled in intensity. Perhaps it's unusual in that it's a Trappist beer that also has understated subtlety? Maybe pay a premium for this but expecting understated finesse, instead of any of the usual Trappist fireworks.

Almost clear golden color with white head. Aroma has yeasty farmhouse notes like hay, barnyard, grains and dried flowers. Taste follows with the rustic yeast flavors, clean malt, grassy and slightly herbal bitterness on the finish. Light body, well carbonated but feels quite soft on the palate. A really well made and easy drinking belgian ale.

Light yellow colour with a lot of haze and an excellent head. The colour reminds me of creamed honey actually. Aroma hops seems to have been used, giving this beer the typical citric smell (grapefruit, tangerine) of an IPA. The smell is a bit weak though. These fruits continue in the taste, where there is also some honey sweetness present, though this could just be association. Biscuit and yeast also make an appearance. All in all a pleasant and friendly beer. They should tweak with it though: hop quantity seems to be quite low at the moment and the 5.5 abv doens't give a lot of ester goodness, which both have a weakening effect on smell and taste. With some more hopping, you could get a fine belgian IPA. This beer is just too friendly: it should try to offend more. All in all a decent spring time session beer, but it should try to aim higher.
