Abbaye Des Rocs remains a mystery to me. So, I kinda ignore them. (While that says something about both of us, we both still have our positives.) Part of the mystery is their sketchy distribution. I found this Saison in Tokyo at the Brussels Beer Project gastropub.

1979 is a decent saison. It went well with the two plates I had at BBP (fried ravioli and sautéed cabbage.) Although 1979 did not have a particularly active yeast, which makes it only slightly above the average of its saison peers. More lively protein swirls helps a table ale kick up fruit. Tastes are balanced, suitable to let a variety of foods do their thing. Light-mouthed for a style that should be bubbly to wash down the food.

But despite Des Rocs mysteries to me, I do give them good Overall Hugs because I'm a Belgo-phile. Just enhance your website, will you?

I'm no grammar expert and the 'Rocs's' in the description I've added looks a bit odd to me, but that is precisely how it is spelled on the lable.
L- Mid-gold, pours with a minute hint of haze (but note: sludge left at bottom of bottle that for me didn't lift easily and enter the pour). 12-15mm white head, holds well.
S- I'm congested but I do get a sense of 'fresh brightness' about it.
T- Hoppy dry on the front, it has a ... well ... 'fresh brightness' in the taste. It's not citrus (to me), but the bitter hopping+hint of a sour edge with it are similar to a citrus flavour. Someone with a clearer palate + nose will be able to divine more from this one. [ps. later on I sense some perfumed notes?]
F- After the fresh/bright taste^ the flavour ebbed back fast and I'd a sense of thin-ness. This seems quite common in lower-ABV% dryer beers where the Taste is up-front and bold; the body/Feel risks feeling thin. After a few sips the T>
