Greatly aided by an excellent meal and amazing ambience of the 't Molenhof Restaurant in the hamlet of Oostvleteren, this Flemish experience will require luck to surpass.
This Saison paired superbly with the lunch meal of a Flemish mushroom/vegetable stew with an exquisite blend of herbs. This Saison let the food do its work. While Bachten's foam was above average and I rate its Smell as an appropriately muted fruitiness, Tastes both balanced fruit and spice while playfully working the stew. (This was one of the few saisons, a Wallonian style, on the 't Molenhof brew list; but they picked one of the better representatives of the style from a Flemish micro.) While the food did not need to have its oil cut thru, Bachten's saison would have been up to the task. Medium-mouthed. Lively enough.
While I could not find an English translation button on Bachten's website and could only look at the happy pictures, I'm still giving them good Overall Hugs. This nano (which seems to contract out its brewing) is an act of love. They have three maybe four ales and lots of happy regional followers. Op wu gezondheit !

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
