Quimera Brewpub "Flemish Red Ale"
From a brown glass bottle with no volume listed (it's 33cl). The lot number is illegible as condensation has caused the ink to run. 4,50€ direct from the brewery.

Notes via stream of consciousness: The volume is not listed on the label but it appears to be a 12 oz./33 cl. brown glass bottle. It's poured a hazy reddish-orange body beneath a short head of white that dissipates immediately. In the nose it's malty, sweetish, fruity, and a touch funky with some leather and mild "horse blanket". The flavor follows with notes of apricot, plum, underlying cherry, soft and smooth oak, apple, pear, and leather. It's not as tart as I'd expected it to be but that's completely fine for the style. I was also expecting it to be a little more mineralish due to lactic fermentation but it's not and I'm quite happy with it as it is. With a little bit of warming I'm starting to get a very light touch of vanilla that's most likely coming from the oak. A moderate bitterness balances it, and it finishes mainly dry due at least in part to the acidity. It lingers, somewhat vinous and almost seemingly spicy for some time. In the mouth it's medium bodied and smooth with a moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation. That at least partially explains the lack of head retention, and if I'm honest, in a sour beer I'll take the softer mouthfeel over head retention any day. I think it could be a little darker in color for the style although the flavor and aroma are fine, but otherwise it's right on.
