Oh wow. They say the nose knows, but Freaky Peach pulls a fast one. Its aroma promises charred caramel and grilled stone fruit, but the flavor delivers waves of bright peaches, spun sugar and whiskey sour. It’s young. It’s tart. It’s super-freaky.

A fingers worth of active lush medium khaki colored froth... Limited retention as this one quickly fizzes away... Color is a slightly murky mix of medium brown and ruby red... There is a suspended chill haze and some light carbonation... Vibrant and love nose... The bourbon barrel notes are at the forefront followed by vanilla, peach and granulated sugar... Palate is a bit more one dimensional... The bourbon barrel again takes the lead but all the other notes are rather muted... Feel is medium with some spry carbonation... Nice beer... Really good but it had (has) the potential to be world class or elite...

(12.7 oz corked bottle, no date/code; gifted the bottle today... poured into a Margarita glass, as I don't have an unetched chalice)
L: tawny-garnet liquid, low-moderate clarity, some speckled sediment despite decanting; reluctant foam on pour which quickly settled into a misty collar... wants to lace, but the shallow span of the glass prevents it; ghostly collar remains
S: bourbon and almost oxidized vermouth aromas - actually more sherry-like overtones after it's settled... little peach fragrance, but maybe more so peach pits? (nutty)... definite dried or desiccated fruit (prune?) as it goes... interesting bouquet overall, quite unique, expressive, characterful
T: peach brandy, Oud Bruin, sherry... hits of tartness and dried fruit leather up front, with an almost white-grape fruit rollup flavor dominating the aftertaste... flavors are exciting, complex, but ultimately well-balanced... lacticly tart, bitter-dry aftertaste, maybe a touch metallic
F: very mildly effervescent; delicately arresting tartness... subtle silkiness with ropey edges; residually lip-smacky, dragging stun-age... bit of supporting heat from the abv, just at the perfect degree; more booze would detract from the flavor perceptions I feel; just on the edge... ultimately invigorating, stimulating
O: I understand the lower, sub-4 marks on this because it's challenging to an unsophisticated, puerile palate... I would drink this habitually in season and at least get a bottle each year... I described this to my gift buddy as 'interesting, but polarizing'; kind of describing myself I guess... this is right in my wheelhouse, yum! (1859)

Poured chilled in a goblet from the corked and caged bottle
Color is a caramel brown shaw with tan head fine bead
Smell is a dark sugar and caramel from bourbon aging with moderate carbonation and gentle sour feel dry in finish
The taste is semi sweet with tangy peach/apricot and subtle wood from barrel with slight caramel brown sugar flavor with slight acidty of stone fruit tangy element and alcohol warming in the finish
This was a very nice surprise, not too tart or heavy with bourbon subtle dry finish a very drinkable fruit and barrel aged beer

Had on-tap at the brewery. Poured into a goblet.
L: Cloudy golden brown pour with 2 fingers of fizzy head. Modest ring of lacing.
S: Smells like a peach whiskey sour. Strong fruit... a bit of oak, spirits, and barrel.
T.F: Tart bordering on sour... a mild pucker on this one. After the initial surprise great fruit flavor. Peach and green apple... apricot and funk. Whiskey and oak underneath it all. Not overpowering with the booze but a nice complimentary flavor. A little vanilla... warming. Medium bodied.
O: An outstanding barrel aged peach sour. Troegs knocked this one out of the park.

When you first smell it you don't expect the fruity sourness of the ale. Subtle taste of alcohol at the backend

Troegs resurrected this beer recently. 12.7oz corked & caged bottle into a tall glass. 2018 release.
cloudy brown/burnt orange body with a small off white head initially leaving light lacing.
Caramelly aroma, slightly boozy.
Smooth beer, even a little creamy. Nice medium sourness, only a touch of the peach though. Somehow, the lactose and sourness meld together much better than you might think. a little warm for 7.5 (abv on bottle, here is listed much higher.)
Mouth is quite full, finish sour.
Overall, I find myself enjoying Troegs' Splinter series adventures, this one included. As mentioned above, the creamy sour combination makes for a pleasing taste to this palate.
