Malt: Pilsner, Munich, Caramel, Chocolate, Special B
Hops: German Northern Brewer
Yeast: House Lager
Additions: Demerara Sugar, Dark Candi Syrup

This is the big, malty and ageable Triple Nator with a bourbon-barrel twist. Munich malt, chocolate malt and Belgian candy sugar deliver deep toffee and complex malt notes, and months in bourbon barrels add hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses. Put it in a glass or put it in your cellar. The next chapter is yours.

We taste: deep toffee, layers of complex malt, hints of toasted coconut, vanilla and molasses

From an undated 12.7oz bottle into what I'd describe as an oversized stemless wine glass. Purchased at the brewery in Feb 2026.

Pours a nearly opaque reddish brown with very little head and no lacing.

Getting bourbon on the nose along with some dark dried fruits and caramel.

Taste us bourbon, caramel, brown sugar. Fairly sweet tasting. Alcohol is prominent.

Full-bodied, hardly any carbonation. Heat from the alcohol. Bourbony aftertaste.

The bourbon is strong in this one. Nice enough brew for what it is.

Pours a deep brown amber color with a paper thin tan head that quickly dissipates into a modest wisp and crown.

Burnt caramel, molasses, vanilla and an herbal note in the aroma.

The same elements carry to the taste, joined by some plum, moderate alcohol heat and fairly strong bitterness in the finish.

Medium bodied, lightly creamy, with restrained carbonation.

Lots of depth of flavor in this one. A fun sipper.

Pored a 2022 in 2026.
It was barely carbonated and tasted like cheap bourbon mixed with beer.
I'm not a bourbon barrel aged beer fan, so don't go by my rating.
It's probably very good, but I just don't like it. I wish I could have gotten the non bourbon barrel aged version instead.
It's a complex brew, but the bourbon overpowers everything. Can't taste any good, or malts for that matter.
Meh ..

Picked up at the brewery yesterday.

A - Pours a deep amber raison color with thin caramel colored lacing and steady, tight carbonation.

S - Toasted toffee, light molasses, and light Bourbon.

T - Toasted toffee and brown sugar, molasses, coconut, vanilla, Bourbon, and finishes on the sweeter boozier side.

M - Thick body with light syrupy texture, some prickly carbonation fighting through the thickness, a light sugary residue on the lips, and warming in the back of the throat as it slides down the pie-hole.

O - Really like this one and hats off to Troegs for a fine beer!

Reddish-brown body with minimal foam. Aroma is toffee and sugar. Taste is similar with addition of the barrel aging. As it warms the bourbon diminishes while some malt sweetness comes forward. A wonderful be beer perfect for the cool evenings.

12.7oz bottle into a goblet. 2023 release.

Darkest reddish auburn body. Bubbly head doesn't last. Bourbon aroma, taste shows a battle between the sugars, malt and bourbon. Bourbon wins out. Finish very warming.

Overall, nice sipper, but think I'll put the other one away for next year. Hopefully the bourbon will mellow and maybe some dark fruit will poke through. Troegs beer #80.

(375 ml corked/caged bottle, 14% abv, bottled in 2022; purchased single at the brewery just over a week ago... poured into my Troegs teku)

L: very little when removing the cork... looks exactly like the regular Triple Nator I just reviewed, even down to the quick-fizzle foam (quicker than the base version)... again, still red wine

S: after cork removal and before pour, the bourbon aromas jet out; during the pour: lusty bourbon barrel... bourbon-y creme brulee... caramelized brown bread crust... slight undertone of spiritous ethanol... near excellent intensity; bold, but muddy expression

T: bourbon-barrel-blasted blaringly-bold behemoth bock... aftertaste is mostly the BBA with some murky dark fruity bottom-note undertones; char and vanilla top notes... the malts do open up, surprisingly more rich than the non-BA version

F: again, for an uber-strong bock with egregiously strident booziness, we couldn't adjust the recipe to add some plump plushness to balance its bite? - clearly it's the sugars (which arguably negates its 'bock' nomenclature) that's initially to blame for its gaunt body... I guess the barrel aging did tame and tumble away some of its burn

O: yeah, I suppose this is what this batch needed: grand embellishment... I could see maybe having this again and probably opting to share the bottle (2032)

12.7 oz bottle purchased direct from the brewery about a week ago.

Pour is lightly fizzy but headless, dark burgundy.

Aroma is intense, even a solid two feet away from my nose. Moving closer, there's some inviting booziness along with raisins and sweet bock malt.

Flavor is surprisingly muted. The non-barrel-aged version of this beer was quite complex and lively. Here, the aging has blotted out most of the complexity. It's still impressively smooth and fairly tasty, though. Heavy spice and booze throughout. Super ripe fruit at the start, cinnamon and sugar in the middle, bourbon burn on the finish.

It's fine. The drinkability is impressive, considering its ABV. But, man, I don't want candy. The raw complexity of the un-aged beer was almost perfect. This is a gimmick.
