I am indulging The CANQuest (tm) for the next several beers as I have enough for a brewery horizontal and Manayunk is getting its turn.
From the CAN: "The Place Where We Drink"; "A precise blend of barley, flaked maize and spicy rye malt give Maized & Confused a hearty, farmhouse composition. We pitched our house Belgian yeast strain and dry hopped with Mosaic and Citra, creating an incredible hoppy farmhouse ale with a myriad of unique flavors."
It came in a 16-fl. oz. pint CAN, so I pulled out my big boy glass and put on my big boy pants for the ocCANsion. The Crack! went off as planned, so I CANducted an inverted Glug, only to watch the foam come rushing up! I quickly backed down & off, but I still got three-plus fingers of thick, foamy, eggshell-white head with modest retention. Color was a cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was heavy on the Citra, light on the farmhouse funk, to the point that I would not have identified it as a Saison based on smell alone. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, per se, but definitely thin, even for the style. The taste was rather odd, enCANpassing a spectrum that ranged from light funky to sweet, tropical fruity to bitter citrusiness with a peppery, light corn flavor thrown in for good (?) measure. My goodness. This was less a Saison and more like someone's homebrew exbeeriment. I had no real problem with it, other than I did not really think that it was a Saison. Finish was dry, spicy, citrusy and quite unique. It was nice to try, but I won't miss not returning to it.

Pours hazy and with a huge head. Aroma is hoppy and yeasty, with notes of peach, citrus and flowers. Amazing taste of a similar nature. Very smooth on the palate. This is a Saison that ticks all the boxes!

Pours with the haze of an unfiltered farmhouse, with a nice depth of color. Initial aroma is of a wet, tropical hops but soon switches to baking spices and coriander with the hops nowhere to be found. Black pepper is the flavor that stuck with me most, alongside coriander. Very slight hop bitterness in the finish. Feel is smooth, a little vivacious. Overall it felt like two beers to me, and didn't quite come together.

This beer comes courtesy of the man who added it, woodychandler. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of yeast, spices, light fruits. Taste is hops, rye sharpness, light malts, a touch of black pepper. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall, a bit different for the style, but not bad.

Look cloudy Belgiun, aroma, bready malty taste different , just not a belgian-saison fan. Overall , an average beer. Even though I live in Philly, Manayunk is not one of my faves, sorry.

Lovely beer. Very well done. The flavors complement very well together. Not a huge fan of Belgian yeasts but this beer uses it to an advantage. The complexity of flavors and the way it fills out is a testement to the brewer. I have not been a fan of Manayunk beers in the past but the last few are starting to change my mind. This one is very well done. One oft new favs for the style
