The earliest recipes for French Toast can be found dated back to the 4th century. Our version, French Toast Crunch, is a modern-day spin on the classic and is a roasty porter brewed with cinnamon and maple syrup, with a whisper of lactose for added sweetness.

Can from Pennsport. Near black pour, small scant head. Aroma is maple syrup, a bit of cinnamon. Taste brings more French toast flavors, but the porter base seems thin.

Pouring at cellar temp into my snifter. The beer was part of a trade with @brendenw17. thanks!
The beer pours a clear caramel color that allows for some light to pass through my glass when held to a light. A fluffy beige head of 4 cm foams up and then fades to a sturdy edge layer and some wispy bubbles on the surface. The foam leaves scattered lattice after each sip that I take.
Aroma is malty and kind of sweet. I get some chocolate notes and a bit of maple syrup. This mixes with a bit of roasted malt and very faint cinnamon. I dont get any of the vanilla mentioned on the label. No hop presence either and certainly not boozy.
The first sip reveals a medium body with fine and prickly carbonation with a thinner texture than I anticipated.
Flavor is malty and similar to the nose. I get some chocolate and then cinnamon and again some roasted malt and a maple syrup note that sticks on my palate after each mouthful.
Again, no hops nor booziness here. The beer is fine, but I found it to be a little lacking in flavor depth and aroma intensity. I wouldnt go looking for this one again.

Dark brown in the glass, with deep roast flavor. And then there's the dessert aspect, or breakfast if you have a good imagination. Vanilla, cinnamon and maple syrup with a touch of lactose--to further mimic "the most important meal of the day" in beer form.

At least a medium body with light carbonation.
Aroma is a shot of real maple syrup followed by roasted malt and coffee
Taste is real maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, followed by roasted malt and black coffee. Maple syrup comes off real and coats the tongue.
Its gimmicky but it really does taste like French toast.

French Toast Crunch - Manayunk Brew Co
Porter - 6% abv

L - 2-finger dirty white head atop a dark brown body.

S - syrup, vanilla. Smells hella sweet.

T - more syrup. Not as sweet as I had feared, but still very sweet. Vanilla and cinnamon. No bitterness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - Quite one-dimensional, but decent for an inexpensive dessert beer.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cola color with a 1 inch head. Smell is strong of french toast with maple syrup. Taste is the same as the aroma, but much more subdued, along with dark malts, a touch of smoke. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a unique beer worth trying.

Smells like you think it would smell, but that's where the FTC stops being FTC. Very little head. More bitter than you would expect from a sweet smelling porter. Not thick like some porters and quite plain with very little sweetness with each sip. Tried to let it warm up, but noticed no difference. Had a buttery aftertaste which might be the only resemblance to French Toast. Dissapointing!

Pours a chesnut brown with enough clarity on it to be able to see a red tint on the edge of the beer when held up to the light. Tan head, 1/3". The aroma drops a substantial amount of those cereal feels. Cinnamon, brown sugar, grain, syrup all envelope the nose in a substantial way. There is a little bit will do ya type of philosophy and then there is the all you can eat buffet where this just loads all that stuff up.

Taste is a sweet affair, if you came here for a thick hearty porter roasted malt base, or for a hoppy porter, you are likely disappointed at this point. The base might as well be a brown ale. It is definitely on the thinner side, which is fine if you're all about showing off these adjuncts, which the beer's entire mantra seems to be about. Sweetness right along the lines of cinnamon toast crunch is right where this beer starts and finishes. Its a pastry porter, its thin, sweet, all the vanilla, cinammon, nutmeg and brown sugar you can handle.
