Bought from Melbourne's Purvis, my newest and best source of Belgians, quite possibly outside of Belgium. My 9th from Brabandere, I like them in part because I probably like all two dozen of the Belgian Family Brewers in that association. Brabandere is in its sixth generation and still making progress and keeping the faith. I hope to visit them in March 2026 on a Belgian Beer tour.
I give points for good Looks and good packaging, both of which Dangerousse has in abundance. Smells are on the sugary and fruity side. But Tastes are surprisingly well-balanced, perhaps by offering up an interesting herb and some friendly barrel bacteria. Medium-mouthed in this rich style.
I'd have this again, a nice change-of-pace within a style that sometimes can be too tart.

#1701. Blind-tasted except for the beer's name/style and brewery/country, I haven't re-read the lable (yet!)…
L- Vivid ruby red when held in front of a halogen bulb. Pours clear, zero sediment in glass or left in bottle. 3mm pale tan head of tiny bubbles. ps 10mins later, holds very well.
S- It has a slightly unusual note to it, fruity, and I'm thinking this might well have some kind of fruit added to it? I don't even know if this style of beer commonly includes fruit...
T- Oh yes, this definitely has fruit in it; I'll say cherries must be a certainty. There is a minor sweet note and I'm glad I started this well chilled unless the sweetness builds as it warms - seemingly a common thing IME. I'll be very curious to see if all of that sweet note is from malt, or... what else... as it comes over as quite sugary. It has a minor and complimentary little sour note in it and then off into a tiny-sour + lightly hoppy dry finish.
F- Feel-wise it's now becoming rather 'fruity rich+sour'.
O- I'm not persuaded by this. It tastes like an adjunct crossed with a fruit lambic. CO2 remains good in the mouth but my main objection is it doesn't really taste like beer to me. Not one I'd choose to drink again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! ==> On the back it describes itself as 'Biere D'amour et d'ecume', which might sound rude but actually means 'beer of love and spume', er... which might also sound rude. Though ecume/spume is the foam caused by a wave on the sea. It's 6.5%, ingredients include sugar (gotcha!) and spices, but I mis-fired as it seems there is no fruit involved here at all.
330ml bottle BB: 14/07/2022 £3.58 Bought from BelgianBeerCompany, Stoke/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
