Brown copper appearance with a foamy beige head. Notes of caramel, leather, earthy funk, and a pleasantly moderated oxidation. Medium body, light carbonation.

Bottle shared by Stakem. Thanks man.
Super murky burgundy copper body with nary a head. Aromas of well water, rain, mineral. Super funky, light oxidation. Well aged.

I enjoyed tasting this courtesy of Stakem, thanks Adam! enjoyed from the bottle in a tulip
The color is deep amber with thin beige head with visible carbonation and fine bead. The aroma is lightly oxidized with slight malt in the scent with fruity yeast presence almost like plum with tangy pear-like ester. The feel is tangy and malty with subtle yeast texture adding acidity with dry toasted grain in the feel and mild warmth of alcohol in the finish.
The taste is wonderful as you enjoy a bready toast and light tangy apricot with subtle spice in the middle with a hint of wood with slight dry chalk-like oxidation presence considering the age of the brew. The taste has a light fruity and mild alcohol element which adds to the depth. Overall I was intrigued with trying and tasting after all it is about 16 years old by now and one of the oldest of this style I ever sampled. It is still pretty enjoyable considering the oxidation and strength.

1998 vintage poured into a matching Fantome tulip. Unlike typical Fantomes, this one was only capped, not corked. The cap pries off with a hiss and bubbles come out of solution pouring a hazy amber copper color with an off-white cap. Lots of tiny fine bead bubbles maintain a creamy look to the cap.
The aroma is filled with tang and earth. A mild unidentifiable spiciness along with whiffs of stinky cheesy funk. A little cream corn sweetness throws a wrench in the mix but as it breathes, it gets quite a strong focus on stone fruits.
The taste is tart like cherry with plenty of caramel and toffee malt backing. Some alcohol warmth is very nocticeable with papery oxidation that is a little dusty towards the finish...nearly cobweb like and reminescent of some similar brett aspect.
This is a medium bodied brew, tart and fruity with a modest amount of carbonation. Surprisingly enjoyable and unique for being 16 years old. I would kill to try this again with a little less oxidation but as-is quite an experience.
