Last winter, we asked our brewers, “What’s more refreshing than a Mexican lager on a hot summer afternoon?” They said, “A Mexican lager on a hot summer morning.” Touché. With the mercury still hovering around freezing, we thought warm thoughts, and went to task creating a light-bodied cerveza clara.
El Wisco pours bright gold with a rocky white head. Woody, herbal, and peppery aromas greet the nose from late Czech Saaz and Mt. Hood hop additions. The light body delivers mellow clover honey flavor before wrapping up with a crisp finish. ¡Salud!

Look: It pours golden with a white head. Head retention is moderately low.
Aroma: The aroma is grainy sweet with a moderate honey note. It is clean with an additional spicy background.
Taste: The flavors are much like the aroma with a balanced combination of grainy sweetness and honey. There is a spicy hop presence and a very light apple flavor.
Feel: It has a light body with moderate carbonation.
Overall, this is a fairly flavorful beer with a strong honey note and complex flavors from the spicy hops and grainy sweetness.

12 oz 2017 bottle poured into a lager glass.
A: a hazy amber body topped by a modest, semi-durable, off-white head. Limited lacing.
Aroma: The malts and hops are balanced with some light bread and caramel notes. Clearly above average for style.
Flavor: Nicely balanced flavor with light sweetness but a mildly bitter finish and aftertaste. A touch of grassy and spicy hops in the mix.
Feel: Light body and a smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: a more flavorful alternative to the common Mexican counterparts.

I picked this up as part of a variety pack put out by Lakefront in the Chicagoland area. My FIL and MIL are in town and my FIL is a big craft beer fan so this should go over well.
This beer pours a clear, golden hue that seems to glow a bit. It is topped with a thick, white, frothy head that dissipates slowly. Carbonation is quite high. 4/5 The aroma is very malty with a bit of spicy hops backing the malt up. The malt is somewhat sweet but is more grainy than sweet. Cracker and biscuit come through nicely. The hops have a slight note of grass that works along side the spiciness. 4/5 The flavor is a bit more sweet than the aroma but the malt is still the big player here. Sweet Hawaiian bread comes through as well as a bit of biscuit, lending a noticeable sweetness the beer. The hops only come through lightly on the back end with a light grassiness and spiciness making themselves known. Bitterness is very light, almost not noticeable. 3.75/5 This is a light bodied beer that has moderate carbonation and is slightly drying on the back end. It is fresh and crisp with a noticeable scrubbing bubbles sensation up front. 4/5 This is a very well brewed lager that is nice and light while maintaining well rounded flavor. Definitely a lager to return to in the future. 4/5

12oz bottle best by: 19 OCT 2017
Good sweet malt presence in the nose and mouth; light, heavily carbonated, effervescent, flavorful cooked wheat with a bitter twinge.
Could just use some more hops, otherwise it's excellent

L: not quite clear with a tea-tinted gold color under a thin white cap with poor retention
S: mild aromas with light corn, a hint of earthiness, white cracker and hop spice
T: prickly on the palate with sweet corn, cracker, traces of apple and a hint of citrus finishing slightly tart and juicy
F: medium to medium light body and medium high carbonation
O: drinkable but does not have much that stands out

This is a different beer for me but it's delicious. It's on par with the Great Lakes Mexican lager. Solid beer with moderate to high carbonation n a quickly dissipating head. Floral notes along with summer flavors. Refreshing on a summer night.
