Pours a prune juice murky, deep amber producing 2 fingers of off-white, frothy, somewhat lasting head that leaves motes & webby splotches of lace. Aroma is a tangy vinous mixture of fermenting dark fruit, buttery toasted pumpernickel & oaky vanilla. Taste is vinous, soured dark fruit, pumpernickel & spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation, smooth, creamy & silky with a nice spice. A treat for the mouth.

This sounded phenomenal going in as a cognac barrel-aged Tripel. Didn’t know who brewed it for them, but didn’t matter. Later found out after I got it. Was a bit dark in there, but poured a medium amber-to-copper/garnet murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Slow moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled British hops/malts, spoiled fruit, oak, plum, vanilla and buttered brown bread. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted much better than the nose. Not that familiar with cognac, but was getting if for sure. Also oak, plum, spoiled fruit, brown bread, British hops/malts, vanilla and a touch of spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long warming finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was very good, but I think I overrated it overall. Almost more Amber or ESB than Tripel. (Overall - 3.75)

Served in a tulip glass (10 oz?) at the Atlanta YH.
Excellent aroma of sweet malts and light cognac.
The cognac and barrel aging dominate the flavor. Boozy and near hot but not more than a little bit objectionable.
