Also known as Heineken Pilsener

Made with 3 ingredients, and they're all natural: Barley, Hops and water.

Yeast is an important part of the brewing process, but it's not an ingredient! Our natural A-Yeast produces a fruity flavor that is key in making the Heineken you know and love, and is filtered out after fermentation.

24 ounce can, BBD OCT-2026 stamped on the bottom of the can. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a clear pale gold color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like grainy malt, corn, dough and bit of grassiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some floral hops and a bit of red apple flavor noticeable too. Have to say this is better out of the can as compared to drinking this out of a bottle like I did in the past. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. For the style of beer this is, it's not bad at all but I'd definitely get the canned version if I wanted to have this again in the future.

Appearance: Clear yellow-gold, good head.

Smell: What? Not skunky? It’s a different world with Heineken in cans instead of green bottles, smells mildly malty.

Taste: Tastes like a balanced lager, maybe a bit more caramel than expected. Medium bodied, mild vegetal hops.

Overall: Heineken supplies this resort so it’s finally getting a review from me. Nice that it doesn’t smell or taste skunky, but nothing really special even without the skunk.

One of the few import beers that rivals American mass-produced beers for scumworthiness. It’s a bad beer.
It’s too bad, because there are a lot of good Dutch beers. They don’t have the reputation of Germany or Belgium, but they can be good. The good ones are not available in America. You can’t even get Texels here.

4-pk pint cans for $5, poured one into a pint glass.

L - Pours a clear, golden color with a generous finger of soapy white head that leaves decent lacing and good retention. Classic looking lager.

S - Corn, cereal grain, malt, banana, metallic, and yes, typical skunkiness of green-bottled beer.

T - Follows the nose with sweet corn, cereal grain, syrup, finishes with metallic, bitter hops balanced with biscuity malt.

F - Light-bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth mouthfeel, very drinkable and finishes slightly dry.

O - I’ve drank a few of these over the years, I get how some people are turned off by the “skunk” factor as it’s an acquired taste/smell that to me eventually became less offensive. For what it is, it’s a decent, drinkable lager that offers a balance of malty sweetness and bitter, metallic hops. I don’t buy this regularly and there are obviously better beers out there but at $5 for 4 of these, I won’t pass it up.

Clear gold with a large white head and a small amount of lacing. Grassy aroma; something akin to floral hops drifted in. Taste is moderately sweet with a solid malt backbone. Lightweight hop presence. Bitterness fades as it warms to room temperature. Well carbonated, light bodied mouthfeel. Maybe not the greatest beer I ever guzzled but it really isn't that bad.

High clarity and head retention.
The toasted malt/yeast profile has a skunky hops accompaniment, part of what the beer has become known for.
Nicely carbonated and the malty flavor and skunky hops bitterness linger in an aftertaste that’s not too unpleasant.
Some might say it’s an acquired taste, but not necessarily appealing to all.
