On tap at Russian River.

A- Served in a tulip, pours a really nice light golden color with a little bright white fluffy cap on top.

S- I detected light grain and and a very subtle yet weird floral, perfumy smell.

T- The taste is very light pale malt. It was hard to detect any sort of flowery qualities from it. Very mild bitterness against the light pale body but I didn't get a whole lot else.

M/D- very light body and flavor. I would try it again just to see if anything stands out the second time, but the first glass was hard for me to want to finish all of.

On draft at Toronado SF

Appearance is a bright translucent hardy yellow hue, layer of dense white head sustains, moderate lacing

Smell is honey, floral hops, light fruits (pears, apples, apricots, berries), earthy/grassy tones, bread malts, flowers and spices

Taste is light fruits and berries up front, underlying layer of sweet honey and floral (violet?) highlights, spices, faint hints of sweet bread, finishes sweet

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, smooth and creamy texture, moderate carbonation

Drinkability is fair, this is a unique ale with the most floral character I have ever experienced, light and punchy overall, holds my interest but not enough for a repeat

Had on tap at Russian River at about 11:45 in the morning and it was a great beer to kick off my norcal brewery road trip.

Poured into their typical belgian style glass, light golden yellow in color with a small white head.

Aromas consisted of a light spice, and floral character. Not an overwhelming aroma though like I sort of expected.

Tasted like a lightly spiced saison style, low alcohol character and some hop/flower presence. Some light sweet malt character.

Nicely carbonated, with the light mouthfeel I expected. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Great beer overall to start with, and while you can tell it was brewed with flowers and other odd ingredients they definitely don't overwhelm it. I expected something really out there and it turns out to be just an odd farmhouse style. I enjoyed it.

Had on tap at City Beer store.

Poured Like the flowers coming out of the girls shirt scene in american beauty. Except the flowers are a golden yellow. Maybe pansies.

Smells like an expensive hooker, wheaty, flowery, and spicy!

Tastes very peppery, light, crisp, refreshing. Like a Bud light brewed with italian rose petals

Mouthfeel like tiptoeing through the tulips.

If you cant drink flowers at home, try and get this on tap.

Another rare beer found at the Toronado. That place is awesome.

Pours a light gold color with a faint head.

Aromas are light, but what I can smell is a sharp black pepper like spiciness.

Taste is very light as well. A bit spicy, creamy and slightly sweet from the malts, and with a floral light almost earthy like flavor. Beer is on the mild and light side, but the flavors are pleasant.

Mouthfeel is good. Full enough, but not at all heavy.

Drinkability is excellent. Not an overwhelming or strong beer, but a very easy beer to drink, and very refreshing. Would make a nice sessionable summer brew.

on tap at santa rosa beer festival

A - Pours a golden color, white head, with slight lacing.

S - Malts with slight hint of rose petals.

T - Not really much to talk about here. Sweet malts with a touch of herbs.

M - Very smooth and refreshing

D - Unforunately, many of the flavors were hidden this beer, but it was refreshing on a warm summer afternoon.

06/01/08- Had on tap at the brewery via tasters and brought back a growler for home.

Presentation- Flip top growler poured via the tap at Russian River on 6/01/08. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

Appearance- Light honey-amber colored pour with a 1/2 inch very white head and light lace remnents.

Smell- Really not alot of nose. A bit of a light grain note with a mild floral and fruity scent.

Taste- Really had a hard time tasting many of the components of this beer. I did get a light honey flavor, especially in the aftertaste. Plus I got a very mild blackberry or berry like flavor which I am assuming is the elderberries. The rose aspect really wasn't present and I really didn't get any black pepper or violets. What the hell to violets taste like anyway? Whatever is in here though is very tasty and very easy to drink. A very slight grain flavor is noticed as well.

Mouthfeel- About the perfect level of carbonation, with an oh so light hoppy aftertaste. Hops are really not present. I think it's about 20 IBU's at the most.

Drinkability- Smooth, light and flavorful and a pleasure to drink. Be sure to drink this first as opposed to hoppy beer as the flavor will be masked by whatever beer you had previously. I would not call this a saison though.

On tap at the brewery. Light gold color with a watery white head that leaves some scattered lacing. Aroma is juicy and sweet. Obviously very floral, but with a spicy character as well. Flavor is light and refreshing, with a hibiscus type of flower petal character and a peppery dry finish. Very easy to drink.

Appearance: A nice clear gold with a fluffy white head, though I would hope for slightly better head retention from a farmhouse-style beer.

Smell: grainy, yeasty dough; mildly floral with a hint of pepper.

Taste/mouthfeel: More floral than the nose implies; sweet and bready with undertones of rose and clove. Crisp and light in body with a dry mouthfeel. The spicy and peppery finish is the most interesting part of the beer.

Drinkability: Enjoyable stuff, but not something I'd revisit often.

Pours clear gold, with a three-inch head of dense white. Retention is average, leaving behind plenty of smeared lacework and a partial skim-coat on the surface.

Aromatics are floral, perfumy, and lightly sweet and spicy. Rose petals with honey and white peppercorns.
Fresh dew in a flower garden with earthy cedar underfoot.

Light bodied, creamy and slightly crisp. A bit tacky and clingy.

Very light malt and crisp wheat lead off the pallet, along with a light spicy note and some residual honey. A slight bitterness takes the edge of the light residuals.

Finishes with rounded honey notes, a hint of lemon, and rosewater.

A very delicate brew, and the pallet doesn't really deliver what the nose promises. Refreshing and quenching.
I hope to try the small amount that made it into barrels someday.

A - The beer pours a crayon orange. No head, very light carbonation.

S - I smell flowers, honey, and wheat. The beer is supposed to have some spices but I can't really identify it in the nose.

T - Lots of flowers and some honey. Very pleasant. No hops to speak of, but a slightly malty finish.

M - Thin bodied, but appropriate. Perhaps lacking a bit in carbonation.

D - Very interesting beer. I didn't get a chance to talk to Vinnie but I'd be interested in learning more about what is in the beer. For those that won't get a chance to try this beer, I'd suggest Rosee d'Hibiscus as a comparable beer.

On tap at RR's brewpub.

This beer was brewed at RR with the brewer from Birrificio Italiano. Rumor has it he supplied the recipe.

It was described as a saison that was brewed with rose petal, honey, spices, and another type of flower that I can't recall.

The beer poured a cloudy straw with a dense white head.

The aroma of the beer threw notes of fresh flower petals, honey, and mild spices. A nice pilsner and biscuit maltiness was present in the aroma as well.

The flavor of the beer was lightly malty and slightly wheaty. There were some notes of biscuits. Delicate floral notes from the flowers came through as did a mild spiciness. The hops were there in a very delicate balance, just enough to round things out. Faint honey came through in the finish.

The carbonation was slightly spritzy and the mouthfeel was light as was the body. It also finished dry.

This beer was very flavorful and highly drinkable. This would make a terrific session ale. So good I just had to get a growler to go. Cheers!

Brewed with pale, wheat, and rye malt, this beer adds violets, rose petals, and black pepper along with chinook and styrian golding hops.

I was super excited to try this brew... it just wasn't quit jiving with my tastes.

Pours a purdy hazy pale with a thin head.

Aroma is big time flowers, but dry, and earthy, not like the sweet floral/citric tones of hoppy beers.

The flavor is a nice, mild, dry spice, with more musty earth coming through. Just enough toasty malt character to keep things even.

Clean finish, crisp enough, nice lift.

Very interesting, and I bet there's people who end up LOVING this beer... but after a taster and then a glass... I can't say that it'll be me pining for this particular brew.
